The Long Table 🌿

Some meals are remembered because of what was served, but most are remembered because of who was around the table.

As part of our Al Fresco series, we've been thinking a lot about outdoor dining lately - long evenings, shared platters, children coming and going, and food that encourages people to linger a little longer...

Which is one of the reasons we enjoyed spending time with Cass and Nick from

This family run company has built a reputation for producing exceptional produce through a farming system that prioritises animal welfare, biodiversity, healthy soils and working with nature rather than against it.
It's thoughtful farming. Deliberate farming.

The kind of farm where quality starts long before food reaches the plate.

Over the next few posts we'll be sharing more from our afternoon together, including a rather lovely giveaway.

And if you're looking for seasonal recipes, outdoor dining inspiration and practical kitchen ideas this summer, make sure you're signed up to our monthly newsletter - link in bio.

Good food starts early...

A good meal doesn't begin in the kitchen.
It begins much earlier than that.
In healthy soil.
In well-managed pasture.
In producers making careful decisions day after day, often long before the customer ever sees the finished product.

That's one of the reasons we enjoyed spending time with Cass and Nick from .

Like us, they're committed to producing food properly, even when that means taking a little more time and care along the way.

Around the table, those choices aren't always obvious.
What people notice is that the food tastes good.
That everyone stay talking a little longer.
That the evening feels more special.

But those moments usually begin with producers who care deeply about what they're doing.

Over the coming weeks we'll continue sharing recipes, BBQ ideas, picnic inspiration and outdoor dining suggestions as part of our Al Fresco series.

In the meantime, don't forget to enter our giveaway in the previous post.

One Empty Jar...

Summer tends to bring out the best in home cooks.

Not necessarily because we're making more complicated food. Usually it's the opposite.

- A few good ingredients.
- A handful of reliable recipes.
- And a pantry that's ready when the weather suddenly decides to cooperate.

Which brings us to this...

A homemade spice rub stored in a cleaned empty jar.
Simple, useful, and surprisingly satisfying.

As we head into BBQ season, picnic season, festival season and every other excuse to eat outdoors, we're kicking off a new Al Fresco series focused on practical kitchen ideas, seasonal cooking and making good use of what you already have.

And if you enjoy seasonal recipes, kitchen projects and the occasional new product release, our monthly newsletter is the best place to keep up — link in bio.

What's currently living in your most-used kitchen jar?

Summer Pantry Staple 🔥
A good spice rub can do quite a lot of heavy lifting. This one takes about five minutes to make!
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp Smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp Garlic powder
- 1 tbsp Onion powder
- 1 tbsp Dried thyme
- 2 tsp Ground cumin
- 2 tsp Black pepper
- 2 tsp Sea salt
- 2 tsp Brown sugar

Method: Simply combine everything in a bowl and mix thoroughly, transfer to a clean jar, label it & store (use within 3 months).

The recipe above makes approximately 8–10 tablespoons of spice rub (around 100–120g).

That is enough to season approximately:
✨ 2 whole chickens
✨ 12–16 chicken thighs
✨ 8–10 pork chops
✨ 10–12 burgers
✨ Several trays of roasted vegetables

It's the first recipe in our Al Fresco series, where we'll be sharing ideas for BBQs, picnics, outdoor gatherings and all the good things that come with eating outside.

If you'd like more recipes, seasonal inspiration and practical kitchen ideas, sign up to our monthly newsletter via the link in bio.

Would you use this on vegetables, meat, or both?

A Place For Everything 💛

The best kitchens aren't always the biggest.

They're usually just organised enough that you can find what you're looking for.
One labelled jar.
A favourite spice blend.
A relish that goes with everything.
The ingredients for dinner already waiting.

That's really what this little project is about.
Not perfection. Just making everyday cooking a bit easier.

Over the coming weeks we'll be sharing more ideas from our Al Fresco series — recipes for BBQs, picnics, summer gatherings and outdoor eating, alongside a few practical kitchen projects like this one.

And while we're very fond of a good jar of relish, we're even fonder of finding a second use for one.

If you've been following our jar reuse projects over the years, we'd love to know what you've stored in yours.

The Classic 🍓

Every strawberry season deserves at least one proper Victoria sponge.

It's practically a rule.

Fresh strawberries, softly whipped cream, and a generous layer of Traditional Strawberry Jam remain one of life's more reliable combinations.

This recipe has been making appearances in kitchens for generations, and for good reason.
Simple ingredients.
A little patience.
A very good result.

We used our Traditional Strawberry Jam here, but the beauty of strawberry season is that there are plenty of directions you can take it:

🍓 Traditional Strawberry
🍓 Strawberry & Prosecco
🍓 Nothing But Fruit Strawberry
🍓 Strawberry & Passion Fruit

Different jars.
Different personalities.
Same fruit at the heart of it all.

You can shop the full strawberry range online and even create your own strawberry selection box.

Be honest — if you could only choose one: cheesecake, ice pop, or Victoria sponge?

Summer on a Stick 🍓☀️

Some recipes barely qualify as recipes, which is precisely why we like them...

These Strawberry Ice Pops take about two minutes to prepare and disappear considerably faster than that.

Made using our Strawberry & Prosecco Jam for a little extra summer sparkle, they're proof that sometimes the simplest ideas are the best ones.

Just mix:
🍓 1 jar Folláin Strawberry Jam or Strawberry & Prosecco Jam
💧 1.5 jars of water

Pour into moulds.
Freeze.
Try to be patient.

If you're working your way through strawberry season alongside us, this is probably the easiest place to start.

And if Strawberry & Prosecco isn't your thing, the full Folláin strawberry range includes:
🍓 Traditional Strawberry Jam
🍓 Nothing But Fruit Strawberry
🍓 Strawberry & Passion Fruit Jam

You can even build your own strawberry-inspired selection online.

And for more seasonal recipes and kitchen inspiration, make sure you're signed up to our monthly newsletter.

What's your favourite summer dessert: cheesecake, ice pops, or something else entirely?

Strawberry Season 🍓

If there’s one fruit we never seem to tire of working with, it’s the strawberry.

For a few fleeting weeks each year, they're at their absolute best — sweet, fragrant, and perfectly suited to everything from breakfast to dessert.

So over the next few posts, we're celebrating strawberry season with a few of our favourite ways to enjoy them.

We love this Strawberry Cheesecakes served in our empty jars.

Part dessert, part jar reuse project, and ideal for summer gatherings when you don't want to spend the entire afternoon in the kitchen...

Method:
- Put digestive biscuits in a plastic food bag and crush to crumbs using a rolling pin.
- Transfer the crumbs to a bowl, then pour over melted butter.
- Mix thoroughly and tip them into the empty jam jars, and press firmly down into the base to create an even layer.
- Chill in the fridge for 1 hr to set firmly.
- Mix cream cheese and strawberry jam in a bowl, and top cooled bases with 2/3 generous spoonfuls of the mix.
- Leave to set in the fridge overnight, top and garnish with a small spoon of strawberry jam, slices of fresh strawberries, and chopped hazelnuts.

For this recipe we used our Traditional Strawberry Jam, but it also works beautifully with:
🍓 Strawberry & Prosecco Jam
🍓 Nothing But Fruit Strawberry
🍓 Strawberry & Passion Fruit Jam

Tomorrow's Breakfast 🥣

Some of the best breakfasts are made the night before. Not because they're particularly complicated - quite the opposite...
Five minutes in the evening can mean one less thing to think about in the morning.

Lately, we've been using our new Apple, Pear, Flaxseed & Chia Seed Spoonfuls in overnight oats.

Sweet orchard fruit, a little texture from the seeds, and breakfast effectively takes care of itself while you sleep.

After a brilliant few days at , it's also been lovely hearing how many people are looking for simple ways to make busy mornings feel a little less rushed.
This is one of ours.

The new flavour is now available from our online shop.

And if you'd like more breakfast ideas, seasonal recipes and kitchen inspiration, our monthly newsletter is the best place to find them — link in bio.

Are you an overnight oats person, or do you prefer breakfast made fresh each
