Last Sunday genuinely caught us off guard. Donabate showed up in a big way, and we ended up selling out. ❤️

So this week we’ve been back at it. Picking, cooking, filling jars and getting everything ready to do it all again.

For us, Donabate Farm is exactly what it says on the tin:

**GROWN HERE. MADE HERE. SOLD HERE.**

And this Sunday we’ll also have bunches of our own sunflowers from the farm for only 1 euro🌻

The weather might be a little bit more ....Irish.... this time, but we’ll be there. The traders will be there. RAIN OR SHINE.

That’s how a local market becomes something people can actually rely on. Traders keep turning up, Donabate keeps supporting them, and hopefully we build something that lasts.

Thanks again for the unbelievable support last week. We’re making more this time. 😅

Donabate showed up, so we’re doing it again! ❤️

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported our first market. It was brilliant seeing so many people shopping locally and getting behind the traders.

We’re back this Sunday beside the Parish Hall, with another great collection of local food, crafts and small businesses.

Markets like this can only grow with your support, so come down, bring a friend and help us make Donabate Farmers Market something really special.

Meet Ray & June of La Castrileña / Cortijo Calistro 🇪🇸🫒

“It’s far from Spanish olive groves Ray & June were raised”, but you’d nearly think otherwise.

From their grove in Spain, they produce beautiful organic extra virgin olive oil, along with other produce from the orchard. I’ve a bottle beside me here myself and it is genuinely delicious. My 12-year-old daughter even saved up and bought a bottle of her own because she didn’t want to share. 0.2% acidity, really fresh, fruity and with a lovely little smooth peppery finish.

And it’s not just the olive oil. Ray also brings along cured hams, almonds, nuts and other Spanish treats and produce, so there’s always plenty worth having a look at on the stall.

This is exactly the kind of stall we love having at the markets. Real people, proper produce and a great story behind it.

A small market like this only grows if people get behind it.

This Sunday is the very first Donabate Farmers Market, and the truth is simple: if the community supports it, it can grow, improve and become something regular. If not, it stays a one-off.

So if you’d like to see Donabate have a proper local market — with food, coffee, baking, w**e, handmade crafts and small independent traders — please come down on Sunday and support the vendors.

They’re giving up their time, loading vans, baking, making, preparing stock and taking a chance on a brand new market.

Let’s give them a good first day.

This Sunday is the first ever Donabate Farmers Market and we’re really hoping people will come out and help us give it a strong start.

We’ve got a great mix coming:

The idea is simple: bring together good local food, drink, baking and makers, and create something Donabate can enjoy and hopefully keep growing.

🍪 TWO SISTERS. THEIR FIRST TABLE OF THEIR OWN.

Sponge & Sprinkles is Erin and Layla. Two sisters from Donabate who’ve been baking, experimenting and selling their creations from the corner of Dad’s stall for a while now.

But this Sunday is different.

At the very first Donabate Farmers Market, they’ll finally have a table of their own. ❤️

They’ve been planning the menu, testing recipes and deciding what makes the cut. There are some fairly serious cookies involved.

Expect homemade cookies, tray bakes, cinnamon rolls, chocolate treats and plenty of sprinkles.

Two young local bakers having a proper go at something for themselves.

Come down, say hello and give them a bit of support on their first day at their own table.

🧶 HANDMADE, ONE STITCH AT A TIME.

will be joining us this Sunday for the very first Donabate Farmers Market.

Their work is all handmade crochet. From beautifully structured handbags and shoulder bags to ponchos, tops, accessories and one-off pieces.

And this is exactly the kind of thing we want people to be able to discover at a local market.

You can actually see the time, patience and skill that went into making each piece.

No mass production. No factory line. Just somebody sitting down and making something properly by hand.
