Teegan's Treats

Teegan's Treats Producer of quality jams and preserves, and the occasional baked goods, from our kitchen in the foothills of the Dublin mountains. So, watch this space!!

Using Traditional methods and recipes, to produce delicious, home-made products. No additives or artificial preservatives. John & Laura Teegan from Firhouse, Dublin, created the Teegan's Treats brand in 2014, making and selling their home-made preserves at a local Christmas craft market. The products proved so popular, that they became an annual feature at this local market, and expanded to cover

other Christmas markets in the Dublin area. In January, 2021, Laura decided to extend the sales from just the Christmas period, making Teegan's Treats available year round. Our initial product range will be small until we get more established, but we will be making a limited line of seasonal products throughout the year, as well as the occasional 'Cooks Choice' products.

I'll be up at The Park Community Centre on Sunday, for the first Firhouse market of the year.

We will be indoors, while we try to get a new outdoor venue to replace our Speaker spot.

I am really looking forward to seeing all of my regulars, and neighbours, again. It's what I love best about this gorgeous community market. It brings us all together πŸ₯°

The market will run from 11am to 4pm, and we will be entertained by the brilliant Firhouse Ukulele Band!

Pop up if you can. I'd love to see you!

I am really delighted to have been nominated for an award in this years Local Enterprise Awards.

I'm up in the Entrepreneurial Spirit category, along with several other amazing local businesses. My local pals .ie and .mare also up for awards.

It is really an achievement for my small business to be nominated among such great businesses.

Unfortunately, I cant make the awards ceremony, because I will be on granny duty. This is always a great night, and it always amazes me how many fantastic small and medium sized businesses we have in South Dublin.

I wish everyone who is nominated the very best of luck tomorrow evening. You are all winners.

I heard it said once, that you won't find any food in the Teegan's cupboards, only condiments.

At the time, I was a bit taken aback, but do you know what? I'm actually OK with that.

It means we make from scratch, and don't use UPF's.
Which we (mostly) don't.

It also means that of you're invited for grub, you will get great tasting food, with natural spices and ingredients.

How we cook for ourselves is reflected in how i cook for my customers.

Honest products, made from scratch, with nothing artificial.

So, Valentine's Day is coming up, and I see lots of small businesses pushing gifts.

To be honest, I find it hard to see jam as a Valentine's present, so I don't try too hard.

But if you did think your loved one would like something other than flowers and chocs, I do have these cute trio towers.

Available in either jams or chutneys, at just €10, it's a sweet treat that won't break the Bank.

DM or email me for details.

I've been a bit all over the place lately, between being sick, visiting my family and stuff, and never posted this news!

So, I have been nominated for the 3rd year in a row for the Tallaght Person of the Year awards by some very kind person 😊

It really is a very big honour for me to get this nomination, and I am very proud even to make the list. Like most nominees, I don't feel like I am doing anything amazing - I am just doing what I do. To have someone else think I am doing something special is very humbling. And flattering.

Thank you to whoever nominated me. I am truly grateful πŸ™

And to all of the other nominees - keep doing what you are doing, you are building a great community πŸ’šπŸ€πŸ§‘

You all know that the markets are my favourite, and my most favourite ones are the Christmas markets!

This year, they will hold 3 markets, giving treble the fun, and we will be at them all!

The first will be next weekend, and is both the first indoor market, and the first Sunday one, on 23rd November at The Park Community Centre. The market will run from 11am to 4pm, and we are looking forward to it.

On December 6th and 13th, the market will be at it's usual venue at The Speaker Conolly, and this will be very special for us.
It marks the 5th year of Christmas markets at The Speaker, and, with the impending redevelopment of the site, it may well be our last 😒

If you are one of my regular customers, please come along and help us mark this very significant year.

It's been a while since I had a month as full as November will be.

You'll find me somewhere every week, kicking off this weekend when I make my first appearance at the where I will be both Saturday and Sunday. It promises to be a great weekend, with lots of events planned, and lots of big foodie celebs on the agenda. Well worth a look!

Tuesday the 11th sees me at the members Christmas market. Not open to the public, but I know that some of my customers will be there (and I will definitely have my Luscious Lemon Curd there this time!!).

I am on Saturday 15th.

The following weekend, the full Christmas Market season kicks off.

On Saturday 22nd, I will be part of the lovely market at where they will be turning on the village lights, with lots of entertainment! Always a fun market.

Sunday 23rd, John will take the reins at Griffith Barracks, while I will be with at our first indoor Christmas market in !

And if I wasn't tired enough by then, I will wrap up the month annual Christmas market on the 29th and 30th, and St. Jude's parish in Templeogue on Sunday 30th!!

Phew!!! I am exhausted just thinking about it!!

Oh, and we are also awaiting the arrival of our 4th grandchild πŸ’•

You are bound to catch me somewhere!

This afternoon, I head off to .johnstown.estate for the Irish Made Awards ceremony with , where I am a finalist in the Sustainable category.

It's a great privilege to be included in these awards, which celebrate Irish producers who are keeping it local and promoting Irish produce, style and ingredients, and keeping Irish goods on the shelves.

Its amazing for me to be counted among them.

I'll be heading over with my fellow local producers and who are also up for awards, putting Firhouse and Glenasmole firmly on the quality producers map!

Wish us luck!

I'll post some pics of us in our finery later πŸ˜‰

I am so delighted to have been listed as a Finalist in Sustainability category of the Irish Made Awards!

This is such a great competition, celebrating the very best of Irish produce and producers, that even to make the final is a great achievement 😊

Also, 2 other local producers and my friends, .ie and have also made it!

It's a great day for Firhouse and the area!!

I realise that I haven't posted much lately.

Truth is, we are in full fruit harvest season, and my days are spent picking berries, prepping fruit, or cooking.

Mostly prepping and cooking, and often, at the same time.

And I know it's the perfect time to post, but I am so busy, I forget until its too late.

But tomorrow is my local market, and it's the only one where I do something different.

I bake.

Brown Bread, and my unique Ginger Cake.

Once a month, for my local community.

Here is a sample of what's on offer.

Come find out more at the market, tomorrow from 10am to 3pm.

But don't leave it too late. These guys will be gone early....
