This week’s food news is doing that thing where half of Ireland is opening something lovely and the other half is making us emotionally attached to places we may or may not have been to enough.

There’s a new wine bar in Clontarf, a new deli in the IFSC, a new Carved in Charlemont Square, a new brunch spot in Phibsborough, and crisp sambos in Hynes, which feels like pub legislation finally catching up with common sense.

Elsewhere, Kai x Rare, Beag’s supper club, Bettystown House dinners, Suertudo’s chef menu and Notions turning one are giving the diary plenty to worry about.

Rei Momo, Ruchii, and 14A, however, are this week’s heartbreak.

Wet hair. Warm coins. HB poster panic.🍦

We looked back at the Irish summer treats we still haven’t fully recovered from, from That-A-Way and Sparkles to Freaky Foot, Solero Shots and Wibbly Wobbly Wonder.

World Cognac Day sounds like one of those made-up drink holidays until hands you a Custard Sazerac and suddenly we’re listening.

Made with Hennessy, rye, crème de cacao, bitters and a frozen custard situation, it’s apparently one of their top five sellers. Also, Hennessy was founded by a Corkman, so technically this is Irish history with a lemon twist.

brought to Dublin for one day only, so naturally we went down to see what all the fuss was about. We asked the important questions, ate the burger, and gathered evidence. Burger people, this one was for you.

Leonard’s Corner, the place, is quickly becoming a little food district - with being it’s latest addition. Pub grub, but make it fancy.

Therapy is expensive. Pasta is cheaper.

on Talbot Street is doing big bowls of pasta without all the unnecessary fuss.
I kept it simple with tagliatelle, aglio e olio and Parmesan, and sometimes that’s all you need to feel like life might be grand again.

Garlic levels were dangerous, pasta was bang on, and the price made sense.
Another one for Budget Baddies.

A Bank Holiday week has no business asking us to make lunch decisions...

Thankfully, €5 lunch deal is back with a deadly assist, and Crispy Chilli Chicken Meal is going for a fiver from June 1st to 5th 🍛 It is usually priced at €10.99, but this week is available for €5 between 11am and 3pm at participating Camile locations.

Crispy, chilli, saucy, and much better than pretending you’re “back in the routine” after the long weekend.

Food news is absolutely refusing to let us have a quiet bank holiday weekend.

Grano’s Banco is finally opening, BAR 1661 are back in the world’s top 10, Mr Fox has a new Chef Patron, Annam Café has landed in Temple Bar, and Notions are doing a €58 “No FOMO” menu for people who simply cannot choose.

But while the sun is out, so is the heartbreak. El Milagro are finishing up at Priory Market, The Wine Buff Rathmines is closing, and Captain Americas on Grafton Street is bowing out after decades of Dublin chaos.

Slide through, catch up, and please apply SPF before making emotionally charged food plans.☀️
