🚨Brewery Spotlight of The Month🚨

Please welcome !

Whitefield Brewery (formerly known as White Gypsy Brewery) has paved the way in the Irish craft brewing scene since the beginning. They completed their maiden brew in 2009, and the rest as they say, is history.

Spearheaded by Cuilan Loughnane, whose interest in the craft of brewing began in 1993, Whitefield have an extensive range of core range offerings. Cuilan has a reputation as one of the most talented brewers on our small island, and his talent is reflected in his beers.

Whitefield specialise in traditional European styles of beer, with an emphasis on balance, consistency, heritage, and terroir. If the ingredients can be sourced locally, they will be, and this gives each brew a true sense of local identity. Furthermore, each beer gets its name from local characters or locations.

The brewery is also passionate about sustainability, both for the environment and small businesses. The brewery uses sustainable ingredients and processes, and Cuilan has been a main voice for change in Irish legislation which makes it increasingly difficult to operate as a small independently owned brewery.

The Whitefield core range of beers is extensive, including lagers of various styles, a Slovenian hopped pale ale, wheat beers and a peat smoked Irish porter. There is truly something for every palate, and we encourage you to sample the whole range!

For the month of June we are delighted to offer all of our customers 15% off the Whitefield Brewery range, including limited editions, from 31/05 - 30/06!

🚨 Brewery Spotlight Alert 🚨

Please welcome our May Brewery Of The Month, !

Ballykilcavan’s history is rich, having operated as a family farm for 13 generations. The Walsh-Kemmis family have lived on and worked the farm since 1639, and as with any business, diversification has been the key to keeping the farm viable for the future generations. David Walsh-Kemmis took the reins of the farm from his father in 2004 with determination to ensure Ballykilcavan could be sustained and eventually passed on again to his own children.

In the decade that followed David taking over the day to day operations of the farm, he realised that producing barley as their main crop could not provide the long-term stability he desired. He began exploring the possibilities of what they could do to improve the farm’s security for the future using what they had to hand, and thus the Ballykilcavan Brewery and visitor centre were established.

The 440-hectare mixed farm is situated in the heart of Ireland and has been producing barley for “at least three, but probably five generations”. Ballykilcavan lies in a prime malting barley growing area, just outside Stradbally. They use all their own barley in the production of their beers, and in the spirit of keeping everything as farm to bottle as possible, their barley is malted in Minch Malt Company just 11 kilometres from the farm.

All of the water used for the brewing process comes from the farm’s own well giving the beer a true sense of terroir. David and his team have also began growing and maintaining their own hop garden for both bittering and aroma hops, including many British varieties and some early maturing American varieties. Harvested in October, these hops travel the short distance of just 500 metres before their use in the brewery’s “Fresh Hopped Pale Ale”, giving the beer a real local character.

Ballykilcavan are also at the forefront of sustainable farming and brewing, info is available on their website!

We are delighted to offer our customers 15% off Ballykilcavan’s range of beers, including limited editions, for the month of May! Shop in-store or online!

Latest arrivals from .meegodard in Beaujolais!

Born in South Korea to farmers, adopted at nine months old by a French couple, educated in France and then headed to the US, where she did an undergraduate biochemistry degree specialising in wine science at Oregon State University, Mee Godard’s history is as compelling as her wines.

After coming back home to France and heading to Montpellier to do the Diplôme National d'Oenologue, she was then was seduced by the enigmatic landscapes of Beaujolais. Armed now with degrees in biology, chemistry and oenology she landed in Morgon in 2013. She acquired 5ha spread across 3 climats, Cote du Py, Grand Cras and Corcelette, and one in Moulin-a-Vent. The vineyards are fully converted to organics in 2016 and currently in conversion to biodynamics.

‘‘I produce wines from the Morgon appellation which are known for their power and aging potential. My philosophy is to produce complex wines that are both elegant and alive. As an artisan passionate about her work and the pursuit of perfection each day, I demand the best of myself in the vineyard as in the winery”

Cuvées available:

- Beaujolais Blanc 2024
- Morgon 2023
- Morgon Corcelette 2023

🚨 Attention! 🚨

Brewery Spotlight Time!

Please welcome the third brewery in our monthly “Brewery Spotlight” series, Galway Bay Brewery.

Galway Bay Brewery were well ahead of the craft beer curve in Ireland. What started as two friends, Jason O’Connell and Niall Walsh, opening a bar and brewing the kind of beers they wanted to drink in 2009, blossomed into the craft brewing giant that is now Galway Bay Brewery.

The Oslo Bar in Salthill, County Galway, opened its doors in 2009. Jason and Niall, fed up with the Irish beer scene, decided to brew two beers. Using a simple brew kit and determination, they perfected their recipes, and sent the beer straight from the conditioning tank to the taps in the bar. The beers proved to be a massive hit and the lads gained a reputation for their brewing talents.

Several brews, facility moves, and a rebrand later, Galway Bay Brewery has settled in Oranmore. They offer a core range of five masterfully crafted beers, as well as monthly specials and limited editions.

Their beers span every style, from crisp and refreshing lagers and mouth puckering sours, to East and West Coast IPAs and barrel-aged stouts. Each is brewed with the same love, care and attention to detail, and we’re sure you’ll find a new favourite!

For the month of April we are delighted to offer all of our customers 15% off the Galway Bay Brewery range, including limited editions, from 31/03 - 30/04!
