McConnell’s Distillery set To Host Irish Wh***ey Awards In Belfast For The First Time.

The 2026 Wh***ey Awards will take place on December 3 in McConnell's Distillery, the first time the awards have taken place in Belfast.

The 13th Irish Wh***ey Awards organised by the team at Celtic Wh***ey Shop & Wines On The Green recognises the releases that have been judged by the Irish Wh***ey community across the island of Ireland.

The deadline for public submissions on the amendments to the Irish Wh***ey Product Specification is tomorrow 4pm 4th September. It's your opportunity to make a real impact and help define the future of Irish Wh***ey. We know many of you feel very passionately about this and we encourage those that have not yet submitted any comments to do so before the deadline.

To make this easier the members of the Irish Wh***ey Guild have provided a template which may be used as a guide to your submissions. You determine what is important and relevant from your point of view and make the inclusions, amendments and comments as you see things from your perspective. The important thing is that you have the opportunity to have your say.

You can download their template here: https://createsend.com/t/t-547D8253FE1CF4B42540EF23F30FEDED

Submissions should be sent via e-mail with reference “Public Consultation Irish Wh***ey” to: [email protected]

Your individual submission matters. The more genuine, personal responses the Department receives, the harder it is to overlook the views of wh***ey producers, enthusiasts and consumers.

The link to the submission is here: https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-agriculture-food-and-the-marine/consultations/public-consultation-on-proposed-amendments-to-the-irish-wh***ey-technical-file/

It is with great sadness that we have heard of the passing of June O'Connell founder of Skellig Six18 Distillery and proud promoter of all things Irish. After a twenty year career as a top lawyer, in 2019, June took the giant leap and founded Skellig Six18 Distillery in her home county of Kerry of which she was so proud. One could not fail but to be impressed by her passion and enthusiasm in all that she did. She did this with grace and dignity whilst still being full of encouragement and support for others. Taken far too young. Our sincere condolences to her family and friends. R.I.P.
