After an amazing chapter, we’re saying goodbye to our Cavavin Limerick store & w**e bar. 🖤

A huge thank you to everyone who came through our doors — for the glasses shared, bottles bought, tastings enjoyed and all the support along the way.

And an especially big thank you to our brilliant Limerick team. You made the place what it was, and we couldn’t have done it without you. 🥂

Ever opened a bottle of Bordeaux, taken the first sip and thought hmm… give me a second?

You might actually be onto something.

A little air can help Bordeaux open up, softening the tannins and bringing out more of those lovely fruit, spice and savoury flavours.

Got a decanter? Perfect. Pour the bottle in and give it a little time to breathe.

No decanter? No problem. A big w**e glass, a good swirl and a little patience will do nicely.

And yes… this might be one of the rare occasions where “I’m just letting the w**e breathe” is a perfectly acceptable excuse for staring at your glass. 😉

🍷 So… what actually is a Bordeaux Blend?

Despite the name, it’s not one grape — it’s a blend of grapes traditionally grown in Bordeaux, France.

The big players 👇

🍇 **Cabernet Sauvignon** — structure, blackcurrant & a little spice
🍇 **Merlot** — softer, rounder & full of juicy plum
🍇 **Cabernet Franc** — freshness, perfume & red fruit
🍇 **Petit Verdot** — colour, spice & a bit of power
🍇 **Malbec** — richness & dark fruit

The fun part? **There’s no single recipe.**

Some Bordeaux blends are Merlot-heavy and soft & velvety. Others lean towards Cabernet Sauvignon and are bigger, darker and more structured.

It’s all about getting the grapes to work together — each one bringing something different to the bottle.

Basically, the w**e version of a very good group project. 🍷
