THE FINAL FAREWELL
After 40 wonderful years as a butcher, and 17 of those proudly serving our community at Cannaboe Market, the time has come for me to retire – a decision I didn’t take lightly.
While it is with a heavy heart that I step away from a business that Jacqueline and I have poured our hearts into since taking over the shop in 2009, we are also delighted that Cannaboe Market will continue under new ownership.
We are very pleased to welcome Desmond Boyd, a young, enthusiastic butcher with great experience. Like ourselves, he hopes to make the business a family affair and will continue to build on everything that has made Cannaboe Market what it is today. One thing that will not change is his commitment to quality. Desmond will continue to use my home-reared beef and maintain the same high standard of 100% Irish produce that our customers have come to know and trust.
Looking back over the years, we feel incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey.
A huge thank you to Paul, who was the backbone of our business. Thank you for your friendship, your patience and your reliability. Your support over the years has meant more to us than words can say. We could never have done it without you!
A sincere thank you to Fred for stepping in whenever extra help was needed. Thank you also to Eamonn Clinton, Zack, Daniel and Vova for all your invaluable help.
A very special thank you to Brendan, who started with us at the very beginning and has become a great friend.
Thank you also to Kevin Heery for all your help and support. We would also like to sincerely thank Clara Catering (Fionnuala & Tommy), Eabha's Food Truck (Seán & Sophie), Smyths Pub & Restaurant (Ciarán, Cathy & Staff), Priors Pub & Restaurant (Gay, Anne, Feargal & Staff) and The Rehab for your valued custom and continued support over the years.
Thank you to Sharon and Alan of Cannaboe Confectionery for the wonderful homemade breads and cakes.
To our wonderful children, Aaron, Alannah and Michael, thank you for being such a big part of the journey. Growing up, you all spent countless weekends and summer holidays working in the shop, even when you would probably have preferred to be somewhere else!
And finally, to my wonderful wife, Jacqueline. None of this would have been possible without you. You believed in me from the very beginning and have stood beside me every step of the way.
Most importantly, we want to thank all of our loyal customers. Your support over the years has meant more to us than words can express.
Although my apron is hanging up for the last time, the memories, friendships and support we have received will stay with us forever. Thank you all for being part of our journey.
As we hand Cannaboe Market over to Desmond, we do so with complete confidence that he will continue the tradition of quality, value and friendly service that has always been at the heart of the shop.
From the bottom of our hearts... thank you, thank you, thank you.
David & Jacqueline
