Sun, rain โฆ hydrate again!
Hotter days are here! โฆ and that means one thing - itโs time to hydrate smarter ๐งโ๏ธ
As temperatures rise (yes, even in Irelandโฆ for a few days ๐), our bodies lose more water through sweat, which can leave us feeling tired, sluggish and less focused. Staying hydrated isnโt just about quenching thirst - itโs essential for energy, concentration, digestion and overall wellbeing.
So how much water do we actually need?
๐ง Children (4โ8 years): around 1.2โ1.5 litres per day (5โ6 glasses)
๐ง Older children & teens (9โ18 years): 1.5โ2 litres (6โ8 glasses)
๐ง Adults: 2โ2.5 litres (8โ10 glasses)
๐ง On hot days or with activity: add an extra 1โ2 glasses to stay properly hydrated.
โ๏ธ Remember - thirst is a late signal. If you feel thirsty, youโre already a bit dehydrated.
Simple tips to stay on track:
โ๏ธ Start the day with a glass of water
โ๏ธ Keep a reusable bottle nearby
โ๏ธ Add fresh fruit like lemon or berries for flavour
โ๏ธ Include water-rich foods (fruit & veg) in meals
