You can't find this kind of heritage behind a velvet rope in a museum.

Real heritage isn't locked away in a glass case. It's a living thing, felt in the land and kept alive by the people who call it home.

It’s the experience of walking ancient trails that wind through our Bronze Age sites, some dating back over 5,000 years. It’s watching the rhythm of a traditional wooden spinning wheel as it turns raw wool into yarn, a skill passed from one generation to the next.

This is where you don't just see culture, you become part of its continuing story. It’s a connection that you feel long after you leave.

Which Irish tradition are you most curious to see for yourself?

On the hills of Glen Keen, our sheepdogs are essential.

We guide them with a special whistle, a language between human and animal that has been passed down for centuries. Two short whistles send the dog left. One long whistle sends the dog right. A continuous whistle means straight ahead, while a longer continuous one calls the dog back to us.

And one sharp long whistle means stop, immediately.

This simple, effective, and timeless communication is more than just a set of commands. It is a partnership built on trust and understanding, a practical wisdom that has shaped this landscape for generations.

It is in these small, everyday details that you find the living heritage of a place. The things that are not performed for an audience, but are simply the way life is lived and work is done. It is a connection to something real, an unbroken thread running through time.

When we decided to welcome visitors, we didn't want to create an attraction. We haven't fabricated anything.

Instead, we have taken what happens on the farm every day and packaged those for visitors. The sheep herding and sheep shearing. The traditional turf cutting, the wool spinning, the Irish music and dancing.

These are not just demonstrations put on for tourists. They are snapshots of a living, breathing way of life, shared with you.

It’s our belief that the most memorable experiences are not manufactured. They are discovered within the rhythm of real life.

What you see here is a genuine working farm, a living landscape where heritage is not just remembered, but lived. It's an invitation to experience the real Ireland, just as it is.

🎶 A little Irish music for your Monday… ☘️

There’s something very special about the sound of live traditional music here at Glen Keen, and today we’re sharing the wonderful Joe Forde singing the much-loved Galway Shawl. 🎵

Music is such an important part of Irish culture and storytelling, and we love being able to share it with visitors from all over the world.

So turn the sound up and enjoy a little piece of the West of Ireland from Glen Keen. 💚

Last week gave us two very special reasons to celebrate here at Glen Keen Farm. 🎉

Firstly, a very happy 11th birthday to James! Watching him grow up on the farm has been a privilege, and we're so proud of the kind, hardworking young man he's becoming. Whether he's helping with the sheep, spending time with the dogs, or welcoming visitors, he's a big part of what makes Glen Keen so special.

And of course... what a week it's been for Mayo! 💚❤️

After 75 long years, seeing Mayo lift the Sam Maguire Cup has brought incredible joy to so many people across the county and beyond. The celebrations have been unforgettable, and it's a moment that will be remembered for generations.

So today, on this Bank Holiday Monday, we're celebrating both milestones—one for a young lad with a bright future ahead of him, and one for a county whose patience, passion and unwavering support have finally been rewarded.

Congratulations to the Mayo team, and happy belated birthday, James! Here's to making memories that last a lifetime. 💚❤️🎂

Enjoy the Bank Holiday, wherever you're celebrating!
💚❤️

What a week it's been in Mayo... 💚❤️

We thought we'd round off the week with a little something special from Glen Keen.

Here's An Neantóg playing a few bars of The Green and Red of Mayo—a song that's been heard loud and proud across the county this week.

Enjoy this special moment... you've waited a lifetime for it.

💚❤️ Mayo Abú! 💚❤️

There's nothing quite like seeing a little piece of Glen Keen continue its journey after our guests leave the farm.

This lovely family recently visited us for a sheep herding experience and were kind enough to send us this beautiful photo of themselves enjoying our award-winning Glen Keen Cream Liqueur at the breathtaking Doo Lough, with the majestic Ben Gorm standing proudly in the background.

Moments like these mean so much to us. Knowing that our visitors take a little taste of Mayo with them—and create memories in some of the county's most spectacular places—is exactly what Glen Keen is all about.

A huge thank you for sharing your photo with us. We hope it brings back wonderful memories of your time in Mayo, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the farm again someday.

Sláinte! 🥃💚
