Did you know? According to Met Éireann, Ireland recorded rain on more than 200 days in 2025, even in the drier parts of the country. In the west, it was closer to 260 days.

Yet Met Éireann also confirms that Ireland's rainfall patterns are changing, with an increase in both dry periods and heavy rainfall events. Longer dry spells, followed by intense downpours.

That means the water is coming. The question is whether it works for you or goes straight down the drain.

Rainwater harvesting captures water from your roof during heavy rainfall and stores it for when you need it most, whether that is flushing toilets, running washing machines, watering crops or washing down a yard.

It is practical, it is proven and it is designed for exactly the kind of climate Ireland is moving towards.

Did you know? According to the EPA's latest report, almost six out of ten septic tanks inspected in Ireland in 2025 failed inspection.

Many homeowners don't realise their system may be putting their drinking water at risk.

Three things make the biggest difference. Installing the right system for your site based on an EPA site suitability assessment, ensuring it is installed correctly, and keeping up with routine maintenance.

Rainwater soaks into a green field. On hard surfaces, it has nowhere to go.

That's why the same rainfall causes very different problems in a city than in the countryside.

Roofs, driveways, car parks and roads turn rainfall into runoff almost instantly, sending it straight into drainage networks that weren't built for that volume.

Attenuation systems hold that water back and release it slowly. Soakaways let it infiltrate back into the ground.

Manage rainwater where it falls.

Did you know? Since January 2024, the government grant for repairing or replacing a faulty septic tank or wastewater treatment system in Ireland has increased from €5,000 to €12,000.

This grant exists, but it can be difficult to get. If your system has been inspected or is due for an upgrade, it is worth researching.

Did you know? A properly installed rainwater harvesting system can reduce your household's mains water use by up to 50%.

Toilets, washing machines, garden taps and outdoor hoses. None of these require treated drinking water. Yet every day, that is exactly what Irish homes are using for them.

Rainwater harvesting captures what falls on your roof and puts it to work for all of these uses, reducing your reliance on a mains supply that is already under serious pressure.

Did you know? Your wastewater treatment system is designed for household water only.

When rainwater and surface water enter the system, it overloads it, leading to overflow and more frequent emptying.

A simple check of your gutters, yard drains and connections can protect your system and save you money.

According to Met Éireann, annual rainfall in Ireland ranges from 800mm in Dublin to over 1,800mm in Kerry, which is up to 180,000 litres landing on a typical roof every year.

Without proper drainage, that water overwhelms sewers and causes flooding. Attenuation systems temporarily store excess stormwater and release it slowly. Soakaways let it infiltrate back into the ground naturally.

Did you know? Dublin's water network is already operating beyond capacity.

Uisce Éireann confirmed this week that it is investing over €500 million in critical supply projects to keep pace with demand. The Shannon pipeline won't be ready until the 2030s at the earliest.

The infrastructure challenge is real. But part of the answer doesn't require a €5 billion pipeline. It's already falling on your roof.

Rainwater harvesting reduces demand at the source, before water ever needs to be treated, pumped or piped.

Every home, business and farm that installs a rainwater harvesting system takes real, measurable pressure off a network that is already stretched to its limit.

Did you know? In 2024, more than half of the septic tanks inspected in Ireland failed.

We work with homeowners and builders every day. Knowing that 56% of septic tanks failed inspection is the first step to making sure yours isn't one of them.

Another stormwater attenuation tank successfully installed💧

This 227m³ tank was designed and configured specifically to work within the constraints of the site — from excavation and liner installation through to geocellular cell placement and geotextile wrapping before final backfill.

The images show the full construction sequence: prepared excavation with impermeable liner, modular cell installation, and the completed wrapped tank ready for backfilling.

Every element of the design was tailored to the site conditions to deliver an effective, long-term stormwater management solution.
