Did you know that in 7th-century Ireland, honeybees weren't just seen as wild insects, they were legally classified as domestic livestock? 🐄🐝

Under ancient Brehon Law, a remarkable legal text called the Bechbretha ("bee-judgments") laid out strict rules governing everything from hive ownership to swarming rights.

Bees were considered so vital to the agricultural economy for sweetening food, making mead, and providing candle wax for monasteries, that stealing a hive carried massive penalties often paid out in cattle.

In fact, if an unprovoked bee stung you, you were legally entitled to a compensation meal of honey from the beekeeper! (Unless you killed the bee on the spot, in which case the law deemed its death payment enough).

Centuries later, our mission at HiveAlive hasn’t changed. We still view bees as the most valuable livestock on the planet, and protecting their health is our top priority.

Summer is here for most parts of the world and your bees are working overtime!

As the hive reaches its maximum population, the demand for nutrition hits an all-time high. To keep your colony from hitting a summer slump, they need two critical components:

Carbohydrates (The Fuel): High-energy carbs power your foragers for those long-distance flights and keep the hive's internal climate regulated during heatwaves. Without enough energy, foraging efficiency drops.

Protein (The Foundation): Protein is essential for nursing the next generation. It’s what allows nurse bees to produce high-quality royal jelly. Consistent protein ensures your queen keeps laying and your colony remains populous enough to maximize the honey flow.

Don't let a summer dearth or nutritional gap weaken your bees. Give them the HiveAlive advantage to stay strong, stay active, and finish the season as a powerhouse. 💪🍯

Consistency is everything when it comes to hive nutrition. It takes about 21 days for a worker bee to go from egg to emergence, but the work doesn't stop there.

Feeding HiveAlive Pollen Patties for a full 6 weeks ensures that at least two full cycles of brood have the protein they need to develop into a strong, healthy workforce. If the bees sense a "protein crash" before then, they may resort to cannibalizing or removing brood to save the rest of the colony. 😱

Keep the momentum going and ensure your summer population is ready for the flow!
