Lakeview Gardens & Organic Farm are situated on the Cavan Meath border overlooking and around Mullagh Lake. The gardens are extensive, occasionally open to the public and provide flowers, fruit and vegetables all year round. Lakeview Farm has been farmed to organic standards since 1996 and we we strive to be as sustainable and self sufficient as possible with the environment and wildlife an import

ant consideration.
60 hectares are in grassland and this supports a suckler herd which is predominantly Aberdeen Angus. There are also farmyard animals including pigs, horses and many types of poultry.
20 hectares of the farm are in commercial forestry, predominantly broadleaf, and there are paths throughout which are a great amenity with a hide by the lake edge for watching wildlife. Field boundaries are predominantly stone walls; traditional cleft larch fencing is also used in key locations. This is a beautiful place with lots of activity and opportunities!

Those of you who walk The Golden Mile must have noticed the work in our forestry. We are felling the ash stricken with die back and clearing some of the windfall conifers. Going for firewood. We will be replanting with a diverse mix of hardwoods and some conifers.

Not sure what to say to the person or persons who recently dumped three hens at the gate to the forestry. We have them in the henhouse, safe from foxes, and they're laying eggs daily! (Thanks Linda for spotting them!)
