I only had the one hive to check today..but it didnt matter how fast I was. The car was just too interesting.. some amount of slobber on the car. Can't imagine it tasted good 😆

Well, today's weather was something else. The first inspections are done, much better outcome this year compared to last. We lost around half of our colonies last winter..only lost 2 this winter. Most of them are booming and needed more space 🥳

The never ending winter is finally coming to an end!! Spent the morning today cleaning up old frames which had waxmoths living in them..they will stay in the freezer now until im ready to put some foundation in them to make sure all the moths are gone.
Planning the first inspection within the next couple of days. It will be interesting to see how many hives survived the winter this year 😬
Ollie wasn't impressed with the lack of attention he was getting today 😆

After the amount of rain we have had I finally got a chance to check the hives. My darling brother Egon Aruväli also gave me a hand :)

The first day out with the bees. This year has been strange. With the weather being how it has been and my back problems we definitely started the season a lot later that usual. Compared to last year when we lost 3/4 hives out of 40...this year has started off very poorly after half of our hives didn't make it to spring time 😢

Maybe it's a sign to slow down.

We will start splitting the existing hives soon enough and have another go with apidias (mini bee boxes) to get the numbers back up. Let's hope for a great summer this year 🙌 🤞🏼
