INLAMB SHOW AND SALE JUDGE -
ANDREW MCCUTCHEON

The Belgian Beltex Breeders Society of Ireland are delighted to announce Andrew McCutcheon as our Judge for our Inlamb Show and Sale in Tullamore mart on Saturday the 6th of December. Andrew is a familiar face to many in the society having judged previous shows, as well as stock trimming presentations at our open day.

Andrew purchased his first ewe in 2014 from Colin Barnes and then established his flock in 2015 with the foundation ewes of Beautry Wanda and Orkney Wondergirl. Wondergirl bred the famous Bodoney Fabien purchased in Carisle in 2020 by Dermot Goss and Michael Lynch for 3500 gns. He has bred numerous winners for the pair including Premier Sale champions in Tullamore.

The Bodoney Team went on to win Champion at Omagh in 2017 with Bodoney Cowboy selling to fellow breeder John Robinson. They also won at the Dungannon Premier 2017 with a Shearling Ram. Since then Andrew has won numerous fat lamb competitions including Beef and Lamb at Balmoral in 2021 and 2022.

Bodoney Dynamite was Supreme Champion at Balmoral Show in 2019 . The McCutcheon team repeated the feat two years later when Bodnoney Emerald was champion at Supreme Champion at Balmoral Show in 2022 . Bred by Woodies Dominator and College Amazing ewe.

2023 was a fantastic year for the Bodoney Flock , starting with Reserve Champion at Balmoral show with ram lamb Bodoney Jackpot that went on to sell to a consortium of Scottish breeders for 2,800 gns. Jackpot was bred by Andrews current stock Ram Cybi Clyndwr Et and the 2019 Balmoral champion ewe Bodoney Emerald.
At the Carlisle Premier Andrew topped 4500 gns for two shearling rams that sold to 2 pedigree breeders, one to J.A. Thom in Scotland , and one to Eddie Lynch in Ireland. This fantastic year of results was topped off when The Bodoney team won numerous prizes at the Northern Ireland Annual Flock competition including Reserve Overall Large Flock , Stock Ram and Ram Lamb.

Andrew acknowledges all of this success would not be possible without the help of his two sons Jamie and Jaden. Plus many friends and breeders that have helped along the way in the running of a flock of 70 pedigree ewes.
When judging Beltex Andrew is looking for “a Beltex with power and plenty of gigot that can walk well and fulfill the purpose it is bred for.”

🏆English Winter Fair Champion Lambs🏆

The Beltex x Lambs from the Hall Family were tapped out as Champion at Stafford over the weekend.

The lambs were purchased by C&S Meats, Boston, they went to kill out at 60.2%. They are now on sale at Mountain's Boston Sausage Farm Shop 🐑

We would like to congratulate the Lylehill flock on their recent success in winning the Jnr Stock Ram in the North of Ireland Flock competition with their Blessington purchase, Annefield Idol, where he was Reserve Overall Champion for Irene Donnelly! This follows in his mother's footsteps, as she was Overall Champion two years previously.

It's great to see stock from our breeders going on to do well and achieving success for their new owners!

What a fantastic year it's been for the Texel breed! Breaking records in both premier sales, with exceptional regional sales and multi-breed sales performances is a testament to the hard work and investment in Irish genetics. The Texel breed really shone at the Eurostar Sale, achieving top averages and a record price. This is a great indicator of the breed's excellence and demand.
