Based in County Sligo, North West of Ireland, we are a small family run farm breeding showjumpers from proven damlines. Our broodmares have been carefully selected from top performance families in Ireland and continental Europe. These are then bred to suitable performance stallions from successful damlines to breed potential showjumpers of high genetic merit.

Luna is US-bound โœˆ๏ธ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Four-year-old โ€˜Lunaโ€™ has arrived in the Netherlands, where she will spend a short period before flying on to her new home in the USA.

Thank you to Micheal Mannion (Ballybride Stables) for the positive work with Luna, both this year and last year. ๐Ÿ™

โ€˜Lunaโ€™ (SRF Moonlight QF) is by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve out of April Moon (Quinar x Landwind).

Wishing the new owner, a fellow Irishman, the very best of luck with Luna, in both breeding and sport.๐Ÿ€ ๐Ÿ†

Are you on the lookout for something specific? ๐Ÿ”

This is often a time of year when I am in more regular contact with a lot of fellow breeders, whether on the phone, at shows, or out on their farms to view horses (just like this morning ๐Ÿ“ธ).

Many breeders prefer to sell their horses privately when possible, meaning several of their horses are never listed for sale publicly. I keep a note of what people have told me they are currently looking for, and their specific requirements, so that I can connect them with the relevant breeders/horses when something suitable comes along.

So, if you are on the lookout for something, from broodmares and foals, right through to horses under saddle, it is always worth flagging it with me so that I can keep you in the loop on what comes available privately. Even a simple WhatsApp message will suffice. ๐Ÿ“ฒ

Between them, Paddy and Denis spent decades caring for horses, supporting riding officers at home and abroad, and helping maintain the standards for which the Army Equitation School became renowned internationally.

The 11 month waitโ€ฆin vain.

Apple (Diamant de Semilly x Carnute) was the next mare due to foal in Quarryfield this season. She was covered to Contagio Z, repeating the cross that gave us the lovely filly Pippa last year (who we retained).

While Apple looked to be carrying lighter than expected, we still hoped that there was a foal coming, as she has carried lightly previously, and all had been ok then. She was dripping milk on and off recently, but wasnโ€™t showing the usual progression on the other usual fronts, and typically foals very close to the 11 months.

Our vet checked Apple out this week and unfortunately she isnโ€™t actually pregnant. Naturally, she was originally scanned for a pregnancy and heartbeat last season. While it doesnโ€™t take the same emotional toll as losing a foal at, or after birth, it is still very disappointing. Particularly when Apple has given us several promising offspring to date. Unfortunately, itโ€™s another reality that many breeders face, and itโ€™s important to communicate the lows as well as the highs. On the occasions when we as breeders get a reasonable price for a foal or young horse, it has to cover several of the losses too.

*Addition: Apple herself is fit, healthy and in great form๐ŸŽ
