A lovely little surprise at the roastery! 🦋

We recently received this beautiful handmade wreath from Corlann Tory Services, brought in by Gráinne Cuddihy.

It’s full of character, thoughtful details and even a little Blue Butterfly touch!

Such a lovely gesture, and one that certainly brightened our day.

Four minutes, one pot, no machine. Here is the Moka pot method, start to finish.

Fill the base with water, up to the valve and no higher.

Fine grind into the basket. Finer than filter, coarser than espresso. Level it off with your finger and never tamp it down.

Screw it together tightly, and put it on the stove at a Medium heat.

When it starts to gurgle, take it straight off the heat.

Pour & Enjoy!

This Friday, Trade Coffee is hosting a Power Hour for the Jack and Jill Foundation. The team behind the Irish charity supports families caring for children with severe neurological conditions at home, and we see that helping families right on our doorstep here in Waterford.

Drop in between 10am and 11am, grab your usual, and help us make that hour count. Bring a friend, bring the whole office, bring anyone who needs a coffee and a reason to feel good about it.

The Farm Behind Your Cup, Episode 7

The last question of the trip was not about coffee.

After a week of walking the rows, talking soil and shade and processing, David asked Felipe what he hopes for. What comes back is bigger than a harvest.

A reawakening. Reconnecting with the way people are meant to live. An abundance of health, of community, of food that genuinely tastes of something. And all of it belonging to everyone rather than to a few.

Coffee keeps getting better. The hope is that it stays approachable while it does, still the accessible gift that nature gives us rather than something you need permission to enjoy.

Every part of a coffee's journey gets examined except the one that covers the most distance.

These two lots came across the Atlantic under sail, which cuts the emissions of that leg by up to 90%. The part that caught us off guard was what it does for the coffee itself. Naturally ventilated holds, a direct route, no weeks sitting in heat at a transfer port.

Better for the ocean and better in the cup, which is not a trade off you get offered very often.

Limited edition. Once they are gone the next sailing is a season away.
