Today, we were delighted to host a cohort of students from New Mexico State University in the United States. 🇺🇸

The students are taking part in a 4-week Agri Summer School programme with South East Technological University

Along with their module on “Animal Nutrition”, the students undertake various field trips and site visits. 🐄

We at Grannagh were delighted to host them today for an opportunity to walk the supply chain, increase their knowledge of the process from farm to fork, and gain some first-hand experience of seeing the required specifications demanded by consumers in practice. 🚜🍽️

We wish all the students of New Mexico State University the best of luck with the remainder of their Agri Summer School programme and further studies! 🍀

🏅 SETU Industry Sponsored Awards Day 🏅

On Friday, we had the pleasure of attending the annual South East Technological University Industry Sponsored Student Awards Day - always a highlight in our calendar.

For the past 11 years, we’ve been proud sponsors of the Dawn Meats Food Science & Innovation Award. This award recognises the outstanding work of final-year BSc (Hons) Food Science & Innovation students, who develop an innovative food product from concept through to formulation, packaging, and marketing before presenting to industry and the SETU community.

A special thanks to Elaine Duggan, who plays a key role in organising the awards. As she shared on the day: “Dawn Meats continued sponsorship helps us acknowledge outstanding student achievement in this project and gives students valuable recognition and encouragement, helping them see the real-world impact of their hard work. The award strengthens their professional confidence and employability for their future careers.”

👏 Congratulations to this year’s outstanding winners:
🥇 Eva Morrissey – GloZen Matcha, a blueberry matcha enriched with antioxidants and collagen to support skin, hair, nail and joint health
🥈 Ciara Grobb – Lunara, a functional chocolate designed to help alleviate symptoms associated with women’s hormonal conditions
🥉 Orlagh Dunphy – Simply Celebrate, a gluten-free cake mix tailored for children’s parties for coeliac families

Each project demonstrated creativity, purpose, and a strong understanding of consumer needs.

Our Group Development Manager, Paul Nolan, also presented an award to the Great Agri-Food Debate 2026 SETU team in recognition of their hard work.

It was an inspiring afternoon and a fantastic showcase of emerging talent. The future of agriculture, food science, and business is in very capable hands. 👏

Meet Mark – Commercial Graduate 📈

Mark joined Dawn Meats in July 2025, beginning his career with graduate rotations across the factory floor to gain a strong understanding of day‑to‑day operations.

He now works closely with both small and large clients, with significant involvement in the Scandinavian markets. Mark collaborates with customers and transport teams and plays a key role in planning orders. He has visited Sweden 🇸🇪 twice, working alongside our New Product Development team, Bord Bia, and multiple clients and has also spent time working at Dunbia’s Cross Hands site in Wales.

“I enjoy the fast‑paced nature of working at Dawn and the opportunity to work with people at all levels across the food industry.”

Meet Martha – Group Commercial Graduate 👋

Martha joined the business in August 2025 as a Group Commercial Graduate, completing rotations across several departments before joining our French Commercial Team.

As part of our Graduate Accelerator Programme, Martha has built strong connections with graduates across different sites—an invaluable experience as she supports the allocation of orders for the French market across Ireland.

And ooh la la! 🇫🇷 Martha has recently relocated to our Paris office for a few months, working closely with the local team to gain first‑hand experience of the beef industry in France—while also sharpening her French language skills.

We’re excited to see how this international experience supports Martha’s continued development.

Proud to support Junior Achievement Ireland and to see the real impact of our colleagues volunteering their time and expertise.

Last week, our volunteers were delighted to take part in Employability Workshops and Mock Interviews with students at Abbey Community College and Coláiste Cois Siúire, helping them build confidence and strengthen their interview and communication skills as they prepare for the world of work.

A huge well done and thank you to our colleagues for representing Dawn Meats with such professionalism, encouragement and enthusiasm.

Our partnership with Junior Achievement Ireland is an important part of how we support and empower young people in our local communities across Waterford and Kilkenny and we’re proud to play a role in helping the next generation learn, grow and succeed.

Students at Abbey Community College and Coláiste Cois Siúire recently took part in the JAI Employability Workshop with Mock Interviews, giving them a valuable opportunity to build confidence and practise real-world skills.

Across the sessions, students strengthened their communication and interview skills, gaining a better understanding of what to expect in a professional setting. It was fantastic to see their confidence grow throughout.

These workshops were made possible thanks to volunteers from Dawn Meats, who brought great encouragement, support and real-life insight into the classroom.

A big thank you to everyone involved for helping students feel more prepared for the world of work.
