10 YEARS IN BUSINESS. 🥂💚

The farm has always been here, but a decade ago, we decided to open it up to the world with our tours and accommodation. Looking back at 10 years of doing this & nearly 2,000 reviews, let’s be real that’s serious going for a family farm. We are absolutely delighted 🤩

The tours and stays are just one part of our daily life on the working farm, and for 10 years straight, it has been a 100% independent effort. No corporate backing, no government funding, and no handouts. We do this entirely on our own steam but we don’t consider it work for a single second, it’s just pure fun and great craic.

To everyone who has stepped onto the farm over the last decade, and to the countless friends we’ve made along the way——thank you. You’re supporting proper rural tourism. While the big seasonal spots shut their gates when the weather turns, we’ve stayed open 365 days a year for 10 years running. Rain, hail, or rare sunshine, we’re out here keeping the lights on. We’ve loved every minute of showing people from all over the world the “real,” unfiltered Ireland. No tourist-trap nonsense…just honest farm life and plenty of chats.

Ever wonder why a "genuine Irish wool" jumper costs €150+, but local sheep farmers make zero on it? 🛑

Turns out, it’s a massive scam.

Here is the frustrating reality:
💸 The Loss: Farmers literally lose money just keeping their sheep shorn. It costs more to shear the sheep than we ever make back on selling the fleece.
🚢 Fake Labels: Ireland has no major commercial washing plants, so our raw wool is shipped abroad to be processed. By the time it returns as a “luxury item,” big corporations pocket all the profit. Big corporations also import cheap products from abroad, slapping an "authentic Irish" label on them.
🌾 The Truth: Irish farmers are getting fleeced while massive brands cash in.

Wool is a sustainable, eco-friendly fiber. We can't compete with corporate fraud. It's time to stop letting brands treat our sheep’s wool like a marketing gimmick. Support local farmers & actual transparency.

A well-known Co Kerry retailer has been convicted after admitting to attaching “Made in Ireland” labels to products actually produced in Pakistan.

Quills Woollen Market pleaded guilty at Killarney District Court to two counts of breaching consumer protection law following a prosecution by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

Judge David Waters on Tuesday fined the retailer €500 and ordered it to pay €1,000 towards the CCPC’s costs, noting that this was a “deliberate attempt to deceive buyers”.
