Joe McGill, founder and owner of McGill’s Brewery in Waterville, is celebrating national success this week after two of the brewery’s flagship beers claimed honours at the World Beer Awards.

Delighted to say that we’ve won big again at the World Beer Awards.

Two of the brewery’s flagship beers claimed honours at the prestigious awards.

The brewery’s ‘An Coireán’ Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout Batch 2 was crowned best Wood Aged Beer in Ireland and received a gold medal – the third time one of the brewery’s barrel-aged series has won this national title. Meanwhile, our ‘Puffin Island’ Imperial Stout earned a prestigious Silver Medal. This is a global standard accreditation.

We are delighted that the quality of our beers is being recognised on such a stage. It’s a huge honour for our brewery here in Waterville to have the best barrel aged beer in the country in three out of the last four years. For the barrel aged process, we have again partnered with Wayward Irish Spirits and used casks that previously held their Liberator Irish Whiskey. This is a real Kerry success story with two of the county’s drinks producers collaborating with award winning results. Liberator Whiskey Wayward Irish Spirits World Beer Awards
