This season, Clare Island bids a fond farewell to Alice from The Clare Island Oven, who is setting off for new adventures.

Alice arrived on Clare Island five years ago and quickly became a much loved part of our community, bringing with her a unique summer trade of delicious French homemade pastries (most notably her famous & well documented cinnamon scrolls), gourmet pizzas and exceptional coffee. Each season, she worked tirelessly, always delivering the highest standard of service, alongside great conversation and a warm, welcoming smile.

She brought a little taste of France to our shores, and it’s safe to say Clare Island won’t be quite the same without her.
As the Irish saying goes, “Go n-éirí an bóthar leat” - may the road rise to meet you. Wishing you every success and happiness in your next chapter, Alice. Our loss is truly France’s gain.

For anyone who visited Clare Island, met Alice at The Oven and tasted her delicious cuisine, share some happy memories with us in the comments as we say “Slán go fóill” (Goodbye for now) to one of Clare Island’s gifted artisans.

2024 season is done! We are now closed after a busy summer. Thanks to all customers who came in for coffee, food or even a chat! Thank you to the best staff I could even wish for & .01 thanks to my lovely mother who came in for the rescue helping catering for a wedding. It was a pleasure working with you ♡ thanks to Janet the pug puppy for being our emotionnal support dog for a day. And thanks for Tinkerbell, who gave the best customer service and being our great mascot. We shall see you all next year ✨☕️
