Situated in the shadow of Croagh Patrick in County Mayo, the brewery is named after St Patrick's personal brewer. Come visit - book our tours online.

We brew very traditionally, creating Belgian-style b**rs to sip and savour, especially with good food. Well it all began as a rebellion against our day jobs as veterinarians..we were feeling depressed about all the on-call in our job and the lack of time to pursue our other interests. We talked about what else we would like to do with our lives and pretty soon the conversation got around to B**R.

We love b**r, especially Belgian b**r. Bart is Belgian and over the years Cillian has come to love the Belgian styles of b**r. We decided that within 5 years we would be running a successful microbrewery specialising in Belgian style b**rs. The Beginning...

This year, we decided to enter two of our special edition brews into Blas na hÉireann and we were really thrilled to discover that they're BOTH finalists in two different categories - the Stouts and the Ales!

It means a lot to be considered 1 of the 5 best in each category as, at Blas na hÉireann, they're judged by expert panels through strictly blind tastings.

Winners will be announced at the start of October and we're very much looking forward to the weekend down in Di**le meeting other Irish producers - all passionate about what they do; and sampling the wonderful food down there Di**le Food Festival. And it's great craic!

KRIEK SILÍN - brewed this summer, it's bursting with beautiful cherry flavour - and with a good hint of sourness, it's not overly sweet. We're down to our last 20 cases - so get it while you can in your local off-licence or from our online shop.

SPÉARTHA DORCHA OYSTER STOUT - we brewed this years batch in July, using beautiful local Clew Bay oysters from Croagh Patrick Seafood Tours, to celebrate Mayo's dark skies and wild places Wild Nephin National Park. It'll be ready for release at the end of October in time for the Mayo Dark Skies Festival - check out this year's amazing line-up Mayo Dark Skies and on their website.

POV: lovely people come visiting with , love all the pairings you've organised with/from ( including .tolaqueen ) and then they sing you "Happy Birthday!", even though you're not there!

Limited edition Mescan Kriek Silín is here! On shelves around Mayo now, will be on some select off licence shelves around the country in the coming weeks - ask in your local favourite off licence if you'd like them to get some in - and it's now up on our website - to order online and get shipped directly to your door by the case!

We can hardly believe it - this came completely out of the blue!
Mescan is in the finals for Best Brewery Visitor Experience at the Irish Bar & Cocktail Awards — and we didn’t even enter ourselves. So, huge thank you to whoever nominated us - we’re chuffed that you liked our tour enough to do that. We’re incredibly grateful and absolutely delighted to be shortlisted in this brand-new category. We’re a small, tight-knit team and this means a great deal to us.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years — whether you’ve enjoyed a pint or bottle of Mescan, stocked Mescan in your bar, restaurant, off licence or café, or literally ‘worn the t-shirt’. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.

The final takes place on 16th June at what promises to be a glitzy event, so keep everything crossed for us! We’ll do our very best to bring that trophy home to Mayo 🏆 🍻
