Since our last post about honey caused a fair bit of controversy, we thought we’d keep it simple and let you make your own choice.
We’ve put up the three jars of honey we currently have in the shop.
Some supermarket honeys are blends containing honey from several different countries, including non-EU countries. There has also been a lot of discussion and investigation worldwide into honey adulteration and how honey can be blended or mixed with other sweeteners. The EU has carried out its own investigations into this as well.
There’s a very interesting programme on Netflix called Rotten, which looks at the honey industry and some of the issues surrounding honey production and fraud.
At the end of the day, we’re not here to tell anyone what’s good or bad. Do your own research, read the labels and make your own choice.
What we can tell you is that we have some absolutely lovely 100% Wicklow honey in the shop, supplied by three renowned local beekeepers. 🐝🍯
