Some chemical disinfectants continue working after treatment because a measurable residual remains in the water. This can provide downstream protection, but it may also continue reacting with constituents in the water and contribute to disinfection byproduct formation.

𝗨𝗩 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆.

HOD™ (Hydro-Optic Disinfection) UV provides rapid, light-based microbial inactivation without adding disinfectant chemicals to the water. The UV process therefore leaves no disinfectant residual and provides no residual protection against downstream recontamination.

That means:
• No disinfectant-chemical storage or handling
• No added disinfectant residual
• No disinfection byproducts generated by the UV process
• No added chemical load on downstream processes
• No disinfectant-chemical discharge from the UV treatment itself

Light performs the disinfection without leaving a chemical residual.

HOD UV can also be configured for specific residual-removal applications. At application-specific UV doses, it can decompose free chlorine or reduce chloramines while providing microbial control. The required dose and expected performance depend on the target chlorine species, residual concentration, water quality, flow conditions, and treatment objective.

If your facility relies solely on mechanical filters to control Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS), you’re only stopping half the problem.

While upstream filters block adult organisms, they miss the microscopic, 100-micron free-floating larvae. These larvae drift downstream, settle inside warm heat exchangers, build calcium shells, and choke your water flow.
