Kesar or Saffron- The world's most expensive spice and pride of Kashmir.
This fragrant spice comes from a beautiful purple flower which is commercially grown only in three regions of the world- Kashmir valley, Spain and Iran.
Saffron is not only exquisite in its flavor and fragrance, but the flower from which it comes is a delight to the eyes.
And interestingly in Kashmir these flowers bloom only for two weeks once a year in the month on November...! This is the time for saffron harvest in Kashmir valley, specifically in the pampore region which is around 13 km from Srinagar.
Saffron is one of the main ingredients of the Kashmiri Kahwa. It is warming in nature and has many medicinal properties too.

Everyone loved the food, kashmiri kahwa and showered us with so many kind words. 🌸

Food is an experience that connects people irrespective of their diverse backgrounds and cultures. It was lovely to connect with everyone at the stall. 💗
