🎯 Boiler blowdown
👉 Boiler blowdown is the process of removing the heavily saturated water from the boiler during operation to remove chemical concentrations, suspended and dissolved solids. This helps prevent foaming, priming, corrosion and scale
👉 Recommended maximum TDS levels depends on the type of boiler
👉 Types of boiler blowdown
1️⃣ Intermittent (bottom, manual) blowdown
✅ Every boiler, no matter the size or type, is recommended to be blowndown via the bottom blowdown manual valve. As water boils, different types of sediment can form and will settle to the bottom of the boiler
✅ The main purpose of bottom boiler blowdown is removing TSS
2️⃣ Continuous (surface) blowdown
✅ Continuous blowdownis only recommended on larger boilers
✅ The main purpose of Continuous blowdown is removing TDS
