Review time! Went to Comal for lunch with my family - ambience was amazing. We started with the Agua Fresca Hibiscus, served in a glass rimmed with chamoy and tajin. It had the perfect balance of heat, zest and sweetness - definitely a must-try!
Then came the chilaquiles, where we opted to substitute the mushrooms with corn. The dish was like an elevated plate of nachos- layered with a vibrant, earthy salsa verde and finished with a drizzle of crema that added just the right amount of creaminess
The Jackfruit flauta - is basically a larger taquito-style roll. It started with a base of creamy smashed pinto beans, rolled around smoky jackfruit barbacoa, then topped with chilli cheese, cilantro-lime aioli, salsa Mexicana and queso fresco. It’s Crispy, creamy, tangy and fresh all at once - it was the kind of dish that keeps you going back for just one more bite
For all you cheesy lovers, the aguacate tacos were such a win! A crispy cheese crust filled with avocado, onions, poblano cream and then that surprise pop of charred pineapple salsa. The combo of creamy, crunchy, smoky and sweet flavours was honestly a party in the mouth.
The Jackfruit Barbacoa Cantina Bowl was a flavour bomb! Smoky jackfruit, sweet caramelized onion pilaf, hot sauce, creamy corn, fresh salsa and that garlicky crema - every spoonful hit different. Comforting but still super fresh
Of course, the best was saved for last- the churros paired with chocolate sauce and creamy vanilla soft serve. The mix of warm, crispy churros with cold, sweet ice cream was absolutely dreamy - the perfect ending to the meal
