Malgoodi opened its gates for the first time.

Children bolted towards the play area. Elders found a bench and stayed for a while. Someone told a story, and a small circle gathered to listen.
Warm filter coffee made rounds while the conversations kept going.

Kolam still wet at the doorstep. A tumbler of coffee going cold by the newspaper.

Coins counted out for one sweet that’s unwrapped even before you left the shop.

Every town once had a morning like this.

Lanes that turned into playgrounds the moment school got over. Bicycles, a bell rung one too many times, a game of lagori that took over the whole street.

Backyards that grew whatever the season asked for. Kitchens that already knew what to do with it.

The same bench outside the same shop, two bottles of Mirinda between old friends, an argument that never really was one.

Jasmine picked before dusk. A lamp lit in the same corner it always was.

We built a place to hold all of it again.

We spend years learning how to do more, move faster and keep going.
And then nature quietly teaches us otherwise.

A mango takes its time.
A forest makes room.
A leaf lets go.
A tree keeps growing without making a noise about it.

Maybe some of the best lessons were always happening around us.
