Not every tree with fragrant wood is sandalwood — and not every "sandalwood" sold to you is real.

The tell most people miss: sandalwood is a semi-parasite. It cannot grow alone — it needs a host tree beside it. No host, no sandalwood.

Add the leaves (thin, glossy, paired) and the bark (dark, cracked, almost crocodile-skin), and you've got a 10-second field check anyone can use.

Small details. They're the difference between a real sandalwood plantation and an empty promise.
