Chennai and many parts of the world feel different this year.
Not dramatically. Not catastrophically.
Just consistently hotter than I remember.
A walk in the morning feels warmer.
The afternoon stretches longer.
Even the evenings seem to carry a different kind of heat.
A hotter summer each year.
A delayed evening breeze.
Unexpected rainfall—or brief, highly localized showers that appear and disappear within minutes.
These are no longer just weather events. They are reminders that we are part of a much larger system that may be slowly losing its rhythm.
Perhaps the first step is not panic.
It is paying attention.
We may not be able to change the climate overnight, but we can help restore balance in the places where we live.
A few small steps can make a meaningful difference:
🌳 Plant and care for native trees.
💧 Harvest rainwater wherever possible.
🏡 Reduce heat absorption through terrace gardens, rooftop cooling, or reflective roofing.
🚲 Walk, cycle, or use public transport when practical.
⚡ Use energy efficiently and support renewable energy where possible.
🌱 Choose local, seasonal, and sustainably grown food.
♻️ Reduce waste, reuse more, and avoid unnecessary plastic consumption.
Technology can help us understand these changes.
People can choose how we respond.
Nature continues to remind us of what truly matters.
Curious? Follow along.
