We normally take a round pit around coconut trees and irrigate. However the feeder roots are the side root and not the tap root.

How to save water, inputs and irrigation for coconut trees and still keep it healthy

What we have done is made channels around the trees and irrigate it.

Benefits

1. 60% to 70% less use of water

2. Inputs like cow dung mix, sugarcane compost, Jeevamrutham and Brahmasthram consumption and cost goes down a lot

3. Manpower cost for irrigation and also applying inputs reduces

4. Labor cost for clearing near the trees like a round pit is not there

5. Low ploughing cost since the whole field need not be ploughed

6. By reduced ploughing the top soil is not disturbed and organisms thrive better.

7. Flower and fruit droppings are very minimal
