DAY 9
Maa Siddhidatri (सिद्धिदात्री)
Planet: Ketu
Color: Purple
Significance: The name Siddhidatri is made by combining two words where Siddhi means ‘supernatural powers’ & Datri means ‘provider’. Hence, Maa Siddhidatri is called the Goddess or provider of Supernatural powers.

Lotus fully bloomed means she completes the blossoming of the spiritual aspirant. The kundalini which was just awakening (budding lotus) in the first chakra as Shailaputri Devi, has now traveled to the crown and fully bloomed above the head, as Siddhidatri Devi

Mahadev Shiv got all Siddhis by the effortlessness of Goddess Siddhidatri. Mahadev got the title of Ardha-Narishwar because Goddess Siddhidatri showed up from his left half. In the story of Devi Kushmanda, we saw how Devi created the entire cosmos from her mere gentle smile. She created the Mahashakti's: Mahakali, Mahalakshmi & Mahasaraswati.

From these Mahashakti's she created the trinity and their consorts to keep the kaalchakra (wheels of time) moving. After Ma Kushmanda created another Goddess called Devi Siddhidatri, who gracioulsy conferred upon Shiva not just ashtsiddhis but a total of 18 siddhis or perfections. These 18 siddhis encompassed the initial eight perfections, along with ten secondary perfections as defined by Vasudev Krishna.

The eight supernatural powers (siddhis/perfections) are:

Anima: ability to reduce one's body to the size of a crumb
Mahima: ability to expand one's body to an infinite size
Garima: the ability to become infinitely heavy
Laghima: the ability to become weightless
Prapti: the power to be omnipresent
Prakambya: the power to achieve whatever one desires
Ish*tva: the authority of absolute lordship
Vash*tva: the power to conquer everything

DAY 8
Maa Mahagauri (महागौरी )
Planet: Mercury
Color: Pink
Chakra: Sahasrara
Significance: The name Mahagauri means someone with an extremely fair & bright complexion (Maha - great or supreme, gauri - bright and clean).

After defeating the devils in the form of goddess Kalratri, Maa Parvati’s complexion remained all dull & black. Parvati went on performing deep penance meditating before Lord Brahma to regain her fair complexion. Brahma suggested that she bathe in the sacred water of river Mansarover flowing through the Himalayas. Goddess Parvati followed the instructions of Brahma & immersed herself in the waters of the mansarovar river with utmost faith and devotion in her heart. Soon, miraculously her black skin started to wear off and what emerged out of the water was a fair and bright-like
moon form of Maa Parvati.

Mahagauri is the epitome of grace and beauty. She is often portrayed draped in a white saree (signifying peace and purity), riding a bull. Mahagauri is depicted with four hands, two of which carry a trishul (trident) and a damaru (drum) while the other two rest in fear-dispelling blessing gestures. Devotees seek the blessings of Maa Mahagauri to attain peace, prosperity and success in their lives.

Devi Mahagauri radiates purity, peace & tranquility. Her name itself signifies her luminous milky white complexion, as Maha meaning Great & Gaur refers to fair or bright. She is adorned in pristine white garments, symbolising her transcendence over darkness & impurities. Her story serves as a reminder that through unwavering devotion, perseverance, and the pursuit of inner purification, one can attain divine union with the supreme consciousness.

DAY 7
Maa Kalratri (कालरात्रि )
Planet: Rahu
Color: Royal Blue
Chakra: Crown | Sahasrara
Significance: Kalratri is made up of two terms Kala (काल) meaning time and Ratri which refers to night.
Hence, Maa Kalratri is the one who can defy the chakra of time. However, the term Kalratri is also associated with the dark appearance of the goddess which is as dark as the night.

Seventh form of Navdurga. Maa Kalaratri appears terrifying to demons but remains most protective mother to her devotees. Her inky black body rivals the darkest night. Adorned with a bright, moon-like garland of skulls, she is Trinetri. Chaturbhuji, she wields a bloodstained sharp thorn like weapon called Vajrayudha & a Khadga in her left hands. Right hands bestow Abhaya & Varada mudras. Clad only in golden earrings, breathing fire she charges at the demons on her vahan, the donkey

Maa Kalratri reminds us to mold ourselves accordingly to face the challenges of life just like she undertook her fierce form to slay the devils. So, if you are also someone struggling with any obstacles or distress, seek the blessings of Maa Kalratri for strength, power, and encouragement.

What’s important to know about Maa Kalratri’s fierce nature is only for the evils so that she can safeguard her devotees from the negative forces. Besides this, she is believed to free anyone who worships her, from any distress or hindrances in life.

DAY 6
Maa Katyayani (कात्यायनी)
Planet: Venus
Color: Red
Chakra: Third Eye | Ajna
Significance: Mata Katyayani, the epitome of fierce power and courage and the slayer of the demon Mahishasura. She is known as the daughter of sage Katyayana, hence the name Katyayani.

Sixth form of Navdurga
The Hindu trinity, i.e., Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva assembled their energies and created Katyayani in the form of divine energy rays. These rays fell, crystallized, and took a proper, real form in the hermitage of Sage Katyayan, who was longing for a child. This way, the sage was blessed with a beautiful girl in the form of Maa Katyayani.

But the purpose behind Katyayani’s birth was yet to be fulfilled. She then took on the demon Mahishasura on the battlefield and put him to death, restoring dharma and balance in the universe

Goddess Katyayani is the warrior goddess who stands as the epitome of power, energy, and perseverance. It is said that one who sincerely worships her is blessed with prosperity, happiness, and wealth.

DAY 5
Maa Skandmata (स्कंदमाता)
Planet: Mars
Color: White
Chakra: Throat | Vishuddhi
Significance: Goddess Skandamata symbolizes the bond between a mother & child. She also symbolises brilliance, power, and prosperity. One can attain the blessings of Skandamata by completely surrendering themselves to her and worshiping with all their heart

Fifth form of Navdurga
Goddess Skandmata (स्कंदमाता)
After Lord Shiva accepted Maa Parvati (after her strong penance as Brahmacharini), it was time to put an end to the demon Tarkasura who had received a boon that he could only be killed by the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

With the divine union of Shiva and Parvati, Lord Kartikeya was born. He was a born warrior, carrying a spear and riding an Indian peafowl, known as Paravani. While he is mostly depicted with one head, some icons represent him with six heads reflecting on yet another legend surrounding Kartikeya’s birth. As per the Skanda Purana, six separate baby boys were born from the six divine sparks of Lord Shiva. These boys were raised by handmaidens which were known as Krittikas. However, later Goddess Parvati fused all the six boys together, creating the six-headed Kartikeya.

Worshiping Skandamata with utmost faith and devotion is said to bring power and prosperity in one’s life. She fulfills all the desires and wishes of her devotees and grants them with the priceless treasures of life.

And when you worship Maa Skandamata, you are also worshiping Lord Kartikeya, the god of courage and power, sitting on the lap of the goddess. Therefore, your blessings are doubled with the favor of both Maa Skandamata and Lord Kartikeya.

DAY 4
Maa Kushmanda (कूष्माण्डा)
Planet: Jupiter
Color: Orange
Chakra: Heart | Anahata
Significance: It is believed Maa Kushmanda created the universe (Brahmanda) with her divine smile and hence suggests her name – Kushmanda where Ku means ‘small’, ushma means ‘energy’ or ‘warmth’ and anda means ‘cosmic egg.’

Fourth form of Navdurga
Goddess Kushmanda (कूष्माण्डा)
Maa Kushmanda is depicted with a gracious smile and a charming aura symbolizing her nurturing and caring nature. She has eight arms carrying a chakra, gada (mace), lotus flower, bow and arrow, kamandalu, amrita Kalash (pot of immortal nectar), and japa mala (rosary). She symbolizes rejuvenation, nourishment, and stability that we all seek somewhere in our lives.

Since Goddess Kushmanda is associated with the Anahata (heart) chakra, anyone struggling with depression, anxiety, or fear can worship her to seek peace and good health.

She has a golden complexion and is seen riding on a tigress which stands as a symbol of courage and bravery. It was the sound of her Ghanta / bell that drove away the Asuras.

However, what’s important to know is that despite carrying multiple weapons and representing the aggressive, ready-to-fight nature of Maa Durga, Chandraghanta Mata equally carries warmth, care, and motherly qualities.

She is always on the go to destroy evil but for her devotees, she is a kind, compassionate, and nurturing mother who is always there to protect them from all the negative forces.

The entire appearance of Brahmacharini Mata radiates simplicity, devotion, and commitment.

Serene Expression: Brahmacharini's calm and peaceful expression reflects her inner strength and her unwavering faith.
Despite the immense physical challenges of her penance, her mind remains unshaken and serene, showing us that true devotion outdoes pain and suffering.
