Cake for breakfast!!
The other day, I was craving chocolate cake, the 'Matilda' kind. But with a hectic week in progress, I had to wait till the weekend to address it, as only I know how to! By making it myself.
This is a double layered chocolate cake ( Martha Stewart recipe), with a dark chocolate buttercream icing/ganache which I made by throwing some ingredients together, willy-nilly ( dark chocolate, butter, icing sugar and cream).
While it's absolutely fine by itself, just to add a touch of design/ and colour, I crushed some cake bits and sprinkled it on top and added some gems!
This cake recipe uses vegetable oil instead of butter ( I struggled a bit with this as I prefer using butter). But what it resulted in is a moist, spongy cake with a different texture!
It has ticked all the boxes as far as I am concerned. This is a cake that lenda itself for any mood...especially the not so happy ones!!!
This cake is reminiscent of favourite childhood memories!!!
