There are a hundred ghee brands on the shelf. Here’s why we started one more.

Most ghee today is made fast, at scale, and tastes like it. We grew up eating ghee that smelled different, tasted different, and came from someone who cared about how it was made — usually a grandmother.

We started Hichkie to bring that back. Not to add noise to a crowded shelf, but to bring one thing back that felt like it was disappearing.

What’s one “old way” of doing something you wish more brands still followed?

We tasted 16 different ghees before we started Hichkie.

Some were expensive. Some were well-packaged. Some had great marketing.
None of them tasted like what we were looking for.
That taste - the one from dadi’s kitchen, slightly grainy, deeply golden, with that smell that hits before you even open the jar fully — was missing from all of them.

So we stopped looking and started making.
Hichkie A2 Cow Ghee — made because nothing else was good enough.
