Sober Sunday but an energetic lunch at Shangri-La is a made my day. It was indeed a pleasure to get an invite for this awesome place for an exclusive lunch. Being the large restaurant in the city, of course, it is yet to be fully operational, it houses multiple cuisines. Each space is specifically designed to reflect the culture, food habits, and taste of each region.

B Café – All day dining restaurant
Shang Palace- Cantonese restaurant
Caprese-Mediterranean
Yataii-Japanese restaurant
Ssaffron-Indian restaurant
A lot to explain about the place and experience to start with as we entered in to the lobby area, we were greeted with a bright smile and after about few minutes, Jit Bose accompanied us for a virtual tour of the place. Amidst the greenery of Bengalauru, it is set up as a huge 19 storey artistic structure, beautifully crafted and carefully maintained. On the ground floor the lobby café, B Café, and the Cake shop everything was beautifully decorated with vibrant colors and bright lightings. Then we visited the “Shang Palace” a typical Cantonese restaurant, with red themed interiors equipped with outdoor and indoor seating.

It started by an Arya Vysya family in a place called Mulbagal (80 kms from Bangalore). That place is a hub for travellers towards Tirupathi including me.
How different from regular Dosas? Well, The Dosa Tawa which they use is the ones used at home made using cast iron. When they put batter, it will be spread across corners and forms a thin Crispy layer. They put lot of oil/Ghee, depending on the type of dosa you choose. Usually for Special Dosas, they use Ghee. Once it’s ready on the Tawa, the Dosa will be crispy one side & another side fluffy like Khali Dosa.

Over the years, Bengaluru has slowly started growing nightlife. The emergence of new late-night cafes has made a statement, rivaling that of Delhi and Mumbai. Among these, Rasta Café stands out as a hidden gem along Mysore Road near the town of Ramanagaram. It has become a blessing for college students, night shift workers, and those who enjoy the nightlife. Having visited Rasta Café numerous times during my bachelor's, I can confidently say it's a great spot for nighttime hangouts.
The journey to Rasta Café usually begins after dinner, with friends taking leisurely drives along the winding roads leading to the café. Despite its location near a highway, parking is ample. Upon arrival, the café welcomes visitors with a lively atmosphere, filled with the buzz of conversation and laughter. Once known for its Ho**ah offerings, Rasta Café has adapted to government regulations by focusing on Italian cuisine, coffees, and smoothies.
During a recent visit with friends, we encountered a bustling crowd, indicating the café's enduring popularity. Despite waiting for nearly an hour for a table, the ambiance remained vibrant. Both indoor and outdoor dining options were available, allowing customers to dine like a king under the starlit sky or indoors. Opting for the outdoor ambiance, we enjoyed the cool evening breeze as we explored the menu.
Our culinary experience at Rasta Café featured a variety of Italian delicacies, including Thin Crust Pizzas, Pasta, and Bruschettas. While the pizzas fell short of expectations, the Bruschettas were a highlight, bursting with flavor. Cold coffees and smoothies complemented our meal, reminiscent of those found at upscale cafes.
However, Rasta Café has its drawbacks, including the presence of rowdy crowds, particularly on weekends, which can disrupt the experience. Despite this, the cafe remains a popular destination for those looking Vibes and great food indulgence with friends.
In conclusion, Rasta Café is a testament to Bengaluru's evolving nightlife scene, offering a blend of ambiance, cuisine, and camaraderie. Although the discontinuation of Ho**ah service marked a change, the café's focus on Italian cuisine and late-night rendezvous ensures its continued relevance. Whether embarking on a weekend adventure or simply enjoying the night, Rasta Café welcomes nocturnal enthusiasts and epicurean adventurers alike.

In the heart of Mysore, amidst the labyrinthine streets and bustling bazaars, lies a culinary treasure that has stood the test of time – Vinayaka Mylari. More than just a restaurant, Vinayaka Mylari is a pilgrimage site for food enthusiasts, a haven where tradition and flavor converge to create an experience that transcends mere dining. As I embarked on my culinary odyssey to Vinayaka Mylari, I found myself drawn into a world steeped in history, flavor, and unwavering hospitality.
The story of Vinayaka Mylari is as rich and captivating as the flavors it serves. Eighty years ago, in a modest household tucked away in a cozy corner of Mysore, the seeds of this culinary landmark were sown. What began as a humble abode soon blossomed into a cherished restaurant, with its signature small, hot, and crispy dosas captivating the hearts and palates of patrons far and wide. Despite its humble beginnings, Vinayaka Mylari has emerged as a culinary beacon, a testament to the passion and dedication of its founders.
