This monsoon, at the Hyderabad Collective, a pair of Knob-billed Ducks arrived. A male and a female. Because there was abundant water waiting for them.

That water exists because of 83 radical-thinking families who increased the lake’s capacity by 750% over three monsoons.

It’s one of nature’s most fleeting spectacles, and you have to be there at exactly the right time to catch it. This experience puts you there.

For just a brief window after the monsoon, the forest floor erupts with fungal life — coral fungi, cup fungi, glowing mushrooms — and much of it vanishes within hours or days.

To live in the forest is to learn its language.
We rarely see it. We read it.

The print, the call, the s**t, the stripped bark.

The leopard moves at night, the civet plants at 2 a.m., the bat flies while we sleep, the elephant passes through and is gone by morning. If we waited to see things, we might conclude the forest was empty.
