Antibiotics… in your glass of milk?
Sounds unbelievable, right?
But here’s how it can happen.
Just like us, cows and buffaloes fall sick too. And when they do, they’re treated with the same classes of antibiotic medicines as us humans.
The only difference is, a cow or buffalo weighs nearly 8–15 times more than an average human being. Which means the medicines are administered in much larger doses too.
And of course, farmers have to treat their cattle when they fall sick.
But what a lot of them are unaware about is that after medication, the animal shouldn’t be milked for 5–7 days. If it is, traces of these medicines can pass into the milk.
And when consumed regularly over time, these traces may contribute to antimicrobial resistance.
That’s why at Sid’s Farm, we test every batch of milk, every single day, for the 5 most common classes of antibiotics - along with 45+ other safety and quality parameters.
We also work closely with our farmers and educate them about the right use of medication, prevention of mastitis, and better practices for taking care of their cattle along with providing them with veterinary support.
Because your glass of milk should never be a glass of doubt.
