Sharing a roof, sharing the sun! ☀️

We recently installed a dual 3 kW + 3 kW on-grid rooftop solar system at Khurai Sajor Leikai. The unique part of this setup is that the rooftop structure is efficiently shared between two households, with each home getting its own independent 3 kW system.

Here is how an on-grid system works for you:
- Solar power generated during the day is used directly by the household. Any excess electricity generated is fed back into the local electricity grid.
- The exported electricity is then used during the night.
- With this system, you can significantly reduce your dependence on grid electricity and lower your monthly bills.

We were pleased to participate in the Financial Literacy Awareness Camp organized by Manipur Rural Bank, Nambol Branch at Thambal Marik College, Oinam.

During the programme, we shared information about the PM Surya Ghar Scheme, the benefits of rooftop solar, and the availability of financing support from Manipur Rural Bank for eligible households looking to make the switch.

How do we get the rooftop solar subsidy? You don't need to apply for it yourself.

The national portal, an MSPDCL feasibility approval, a vendor quote, a net meter application, an inspection, and then the subsidy claim.

And the one that catches most people: the name on your electricity bill, your Aadhaar and your bank account must match exactly. A spelling difference is enough for the portal to reject the transfer - sometimes after the system is already installed.

We handle the entire process, and we check the documents before anything is filed.

What does rooftop solar actually cost?

A 3 kW grid-connected system is ₹1,79,000(Mono PERC. TopCON cost ₹1,86,000). The PM Surya Ghar subsidy is ₹85,800, credited to your bank account. You pay ₹93,200.

Which size your roof needs is the one thing we cannot tell you from here. The assessment is free, and if your roof does not suit solar we will say so.

Non-south facing roof? No problem! ☀️

Not every roof is perfectly positioned for solar, and that is completely okay. In this 3kW installation in Awang Sekmai, the roof is non-south facing.

While a south-facing roof is ideal for maximum efficiency, we can still install reliable systems on other roofs using customized mounting structures like the one shown here. It is a bit of a compromise - there is a slight reduction in overall power generation - but it remains a practical, effective way to transition your home to solar energy.
