Deficit rains in July has sent the paddy agricultural cycle for a toss. With the help of lifted water we at Kolab River Estate could somehow manage to get on with transplantation of paddy.
This year we have cultivated Nawabi, Basav Bhog and Kala Jeera variety of paddy which are indigenous and traditional varieties of rice.
Let's hope and pray for a better and conducive season ahead.

Kala Jeera rice from Koraput has recently been accorded GI Tag.

A quintessential Odia thali(meal) made from farm-fresh ingredients and served on freshly cut banana leaf.
The epicuticular wax on the banana leaf when comes in contact with hot steaming rice a soothingly pleasant aroma is released and it certainly adds to the overall dining experience.

Here is a male Jungle cat( Felis cat) in it's typical habitat. Scrub jungles bordering our estate are their favorite hunting grounds and breeding grounds.
You can see them in broad daylight inside the estate.
