Residents Seek Immediate Resumption and Completion of PMGSY Works on Historic Bunjwah Road
Kishtwar, June 7: Residents of Bunjwah have expressed serious concern over the prolonged delay in the ex*****on of culvert and Hume pipe works being undertaken on the Historic Bunjwah Road from Kewa Pull to Patnazi under PMGSY.
According to local residents, the construction work has remained stalled for more than a week without any official explanation. The public has reportedly made several attempts to contact the concerned executing agencies and officials to ascertain the reasons behind the delay, but no satisfactory response has been received so far.
The issue assumes significance as concerns regarding the quality of work had earlier been raised by locals. Residents alleged that at several locations, Hume pipes were initially laid without proper surface preparation and without the construction of a cement concrete bed required for leveling and stability. The matter was brought to the notice of the concerned Junior Engineer of PMGSY Division Kishtwar.
Locals stated that corrective measures were undertaken at only one location where the previously laid Hume pipes were removed and reinstalled after proper surfacing and concreting. However, they claim that similar deficiencies continue to exist at other locations, including Noor, Jawalapur, Khar Morh and Zerwar Nallah.
Speaking on the issue, Youth Leader Choudhary Mohd Aslam from Bunjwah urged the authorities to take immediate corrective measures and ensure transparency in the ex*****on of the project.
"The Historic Bunjwah Road is a lifeline for thousands of residents of the region. Any unnecessary delay in the ex*****on of developmental works causes inconvenience to the public and raises concerns about project implementation. The authorities must ensure that all works are carried out strictly according to approved specifications and quality standards. We demand an immediate inspection of all disputed locations, resumption of the stalled work, and its completion within a fixed timeframe so that the public does not continue to suffer," he said.
Residents have urged the district administration and higher authorities of PMGSY to conduct a thorough inspection of all work sites and ensure that construction is carried out strictly in accordance with approved specifications and engineering standards.
The public has further demanded the immediate resumption of the stalled work and its completion within a fixed timeframe, emphasizing that the Historic Bunjwah Road serves as a vital communication link for thousands of people in the region.
Local residents expressed hope that the concerned authorities would intervene promptly to address the issues, ensure transparency in project ex*****on, and facilitate the timely completion of the road infrastructure works for the benefit of the general public.
