đŸ”Ĩ Hidden Gem Alert – Andhra-Style Bagara Biryani That Packs a Punch! đŸ”Ĩ
📍 Bagara Biryani Cafe, Lake Gardens

Biryani lovers, take note – this one’s not your usual dum or Kolkata biryani. Scrolling through Zomato on a routine biryani hunt, I decided to ditch the familiar and explore something bold. That’s when I stumbled upon Bagara Biryani Cafe – and oh, what a discovery!

From the get-go, the experience was elevated. The packaging was top-tier: first wrapped in paper, then in a shal pata (sal leaf) that locked in the aroma like a culinary treasure waiting to be unwrapped. As soon as I opened it, I was hit with an intense burst of fragrance – earthy, spicy, and deeply inviting.

This Andhra-style Bagara Biryani came loaded:
🍚 Generous portion of long-grain, well-cooked rice
🍗 Four medium-sized pieces of tender chicken
đŸĨš Two whole fried eggs
🍋 Lemon wedge + sliced onions tucked inside the wrap

The flavour? Rich. Robust. Spicy. Yet, addictive. Despite not being a “spicy food” person, I couldn’t stop. The raita I smartly ordered on the side came to the rescue, cooling things down just enough to keep going.

The heat builds, but the balance of spices, the quality of the meat, and the rustic essence of Andhra cuisine truly shine. This isn’t your everyday biryani — it’s an experience.
biryanicafe_kolkata

Verdict: If you’re looking to break free from your biryani routine and have your taste buds awakened, this is the one.
đŸŒļī¸ Heat level: High
⭐ Must try: With raita on the side
💸 Totally worth it
🏆 Rating: 4.5/5

Strictly for Kolkata Folks – A Hidden Gem Near Maidan!

If you’re a true blue Bengali and your evening doesn’t involve a cup of chai with a singara in hand, then honestly—shame on you. There’s a place I keep going back to, a tiny roadside joint near Maidan that serves a combo so comforting, so soul-hugging, it deserves a spotlight.

Let’s talk about the chai first—served in classic bhaaras (earthen cups), it’s the kind that warms more than just your hands. One sip, and you’re hooked. It’s got that perfect kadak edge with a whisper of sweetness that lingers just enough to make you crave another round.

But wait till you try the singara—this isn’t your average para’r dokan version. The filling is a spicy, herbaceous mix of perfectly mashed potatoes with a generous dose of jeera (cumin) and other hidden spices that hit all the right notes. The crust? Flaky, crispy, and golden—exactly how it should be.

Their coffee also deserves a shoutout—strong, aromatic, and surprisingly good for a roadside stop. Ideal for those slightly colder evenings when chai just doesn’t cut it.

After an adda session at Maidan, when the grounds turn eerily quiet and the street lights barely flicker, I make my way to this little gem before hopping on the metro. It’s become a ritual, a memory stitched into the fabric of every winter and monsoon evening spent in the city.

So next time you’re near Maidan, follow your nose—and your cravings. This chai-singara combo is Kolkata comfort at its finest. đŸĢ–đŸĨŸâœ¨

✨ Fine Dining at Aminia, Golpark – A Culinary Experience to Remember ✨

A few months back, I had the pleasure of dining at Aminia, Golpark, and the experience still lingers vividly. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and grace—the hospitality was nothing short of exceptional. The servers went above and beyond, making us feel truly valued.

đŸ”Ĩ Full Chicken Tandoori
Perfectly charred, beautifully marinated, and bursting with flavor—each bite was a delight. Juicy, smoky, and just the right amount of spice, it set the tone for what was to come.

🍛 Mutton Biryani
A classic done right. The fragrant, fluffy rice paired with a tender rezala-style mutton piece and that iconic Kolkata potatoâ€Ļ pure bliss. It was so good, I only realised I’d eaten half the plate when it was almost gone!

🍗 Chicken Lahori
Recommended by the staff—and rightly so. The chicken was succulent, cooked to perfection, and the rich, balanced gravy was a revelation. Creamy yet spiced just right, it’s a dish I’d go back for.

🍮 Dessert to End on a Sweet Note
The meal wrapped up with a sweet treat that was the cherry on top—simple, nostalgic, and utterly delicious.

📍 Aminia Golpark isn’t just about food—it’s an experience. From impeccable hospitality to unforgettable flavors, it was a solid 10/10 that day.

🌟 Highly recommended for lovers of classic Mughlai cuisine and comforting Kolkata-style biryani.

🧆 Singara Chaat Chronicles | Nostalgia on a Plate đŸ”Ĩ🍋

How many of you are die-hard singara chaat lovers? Because I found a gem that took me straight back to my college days — those golden evenings when class ended, and the real lesson began: food + friends = memories for life.

Tucked just outside Lake Mall, this unassuming stall is dishing out a version of singara chaat that hits every nostalgic nerve. Picture this: fresh, airy singaras, lightly crushed (not murdered), paired with a humble, less-spicy ghugni, topped with crispy jhuri bhaja and two magical chutneys — one sweet, one fiery. The combo? Pure harmony. đŸŒļī¸đŸ§Ą

The flavor is not overpowering, not pretentious — just honest street food, with the right textures and layers of taste that build slowly and keep pulling you back for just one more bite.

Trust me, once you try it, you won’t stop.

Sharma – Rabindra Sarobar Outlet Review đŸŊī¸

If there’s one place that’s carved a permanent spot in every food lover’s heart, it’s Sharma. And the Rabindra Sarobar outlet might just be the fan-favourite for all the right reasons. Easily accessible via metro and just a short walk from the serene lakeside—it’s the kind of place where you eat well, and then walk it off with a view. Win-win? Absolutely. 😄

Now let’s talk food, because that’s where the real story begins.

1. Chole Bhature Combo

A proper showstopper. The bhature are big, fluffy, and satisfying—perfectly crisp on the outside, soft inside—and the chole? Packed with flavour, spiced just right. It’s a hearty, soul-satisfying combo that hits the spot. But do note—it’s only served in the afternoon, so time your visit right.

2. Peas Kachori with Kashmiri Aloo Dum
Getting peas kachori off-season? Already feels like a rare win. But when paired with their sweet, spicy, and beautifully balanced Kashmiri aloo dum—it becomes an absolute delight. This combo doesn’t just work, it sings.

3. Dhokla with Spicy Chutney
Light, airy, and surprisingly moist. Their dhokla is on point. But it’s the tangy-spicy chutney on the side that elevates it to another level. If you’re looking for something light yet satisfying, this is your pick.

4. Jalebi & Rabri – The Grand Finale
Do I even need to describe this combo? Golden, syrupy jalebis served with creamy rabri—it’s indulgence at its finest. A match made in dessert heaven. Every bite is a celebration.

â¸ģ

📍Pro tip: Go with friends, try multiple combos, and don’t forget to take that post-meal walk by the lake. Sharma at Rabindra Sarobar isn’t just a place to eat—it’s an experience.

Today, I’m taking you to one of my absolute favorite cozy corners in the city — Raj’s Spanish Cafe, nestled near Esplanade. This little gem truly has it all: ambience, affordability, and food that speaks to the soul. đŸ’Ģ

We started off with their Honey Lemon Fresh Lime Soda – perfectly tangy, refreshingly fizzy, and honestly, a mood-lifter in a glass. If you’re looking for a chill-me-down on a hot Kolkata day, this is it. 🍋✨

Next up, we indulged in their Wood-Fired Pizza. This isn’t your regular delivery-style pizza — it’s artisanal, crisp on the edges, smoky from the wood fire, and generously loaded. The flavors? Chef’s kiss. 🍕

But the real star of the show? The Tiramisu. Possibly one of the best I’ve had in the city. Soft, creamy, and perfectly balanced — not too sweet, just the way it should be. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we ended on a high note with their Caramel Custard Pudding. Silky-smooth, nostalgic, and absolutely divine. 🍮💛

💸 Price vs Quality? Honestly, unbeatable. Every bite felt premium without burning a hole in the pocket.

No wonder this spot has earned a permanent place in my favorites. Highly recommend you give it a try — whether you’re here to unwind, catch up with friends, or simply treat yourself. đŸŒŋ☕

We’re back on the food trail — and this time, stronger than ever.
After a long break, we finally returned to our culinary journey, and what better way to bounce back than with a visit to Anwar Shah Road (Main Branch) — a name synonymous with bold flavours and Mughlai comfort.

We began our evening with the Mutton Nargisi Kebab, served alongside sliced paratha, dip, and salad. The kebabs were a visual and gustatory treat — rich, perfectly spiced, and the ideal way to set the tone for the feast ahead.

Next came the Mutton Bhuna Kebab — 6 generously sized pieces, charred with just the right amount of tandoori smokiness. Tender, juicy, and loaded with flavour, this dish was easily the showstopper of the night. Absolute perfection.

For mains, we went classic — Mutton Biryani. Light, aromatic, and balanced, the biryani had that soulful warmth you crave on a tired day. The mutton was succulent, the potato soft and flavourful, and the portion size generous. It brought us genuine joy — the kind of peaceful satisfaction only a good biryani can offer.

We also tried the Kadhai Chicken, which came in a hearty portion and was decently flavoured. Paired it with a Chicken Kulcha, which was nice — but if you ask us, the mutton dishes at Hanglatherium steal the spotlight. The chicken items didn’t quite hit the same emotional note.

Verdict: Stick to their mutton offerings — they’re deeply comforting, soulful, and executed with finesse. This place gave us something we hadn’t had in a while — sukoon on a plate.
