Karma Kettle is an artisanal tea company based in Kolkata, India, founded by hospitality and F&B experts Priti Sen Arora and Dhiraj Arora. Our journey begins in 2015, in the hills of Darjeeling in eastern India, where the finest teas cultivated from grand cru estates are waiting to be transformed into delicious cups of tea. What inspired us to begin this journey was an incredibly simple yet astoun
ding mission: to bring fresh gourmet teas straight from the tea gardens to the kettle and cup. We worked directly with tea plantations in Assam and Darjeeling to source fresh teas that were packaged in our beautiful tin boxes and offered through our cafe and retail space in Kolkata. We began with just 10 tea blends. Today, we have more than a 100 tea varieties available across e-commerce portals (Amazon, Flipkart, Tata Cliq) and specialty retail outlets and cafes, as well as airport kiosks. What encourages us everyday is the belief that tea is a vital beverage that has a positive impact on the body, mind and spirit. Each exquisite blend crafted by our certified master blenders and tea tasters. Our gourmet ingredients (think matcha powder, butterfly pea flower, ginseng, rhododendron flower, saffron, lavender, seabuckthorn, and cockscomb) are blended with green tea, black tea, oolong tea, white tea, and as pure tisanes to brew teas that have a host of health and wellness benefits. Our specialty teas also include Ayurvedic super herbs such as brahmi, ashwagandha, tulsi, galangal, and sage that are known for their healing, restorative benefits. We procure these unusual ingredients from around the world as well as from single estate tea plantations and small farmers operating in the tea valleys of Assam, Darjeeling, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. It’s like traveling all over the world on adventurous voyages through cups of teas! Since 2020, we have taken on another challenging yet incredibly important mission: to embark on the path of sustainability in sourcing, production and packaging teas. We have already transformed our packaging by slowly shifting to biodegradable pyramid tea bags and aim to replace plastic packaging in our tea boxes. Tea drinking is a vital habit in every culture around the world but it is also accompanied by some mesmerizing preparation and pouring rituals. We wanted our customers to have access to some of these incredible moments at home and have collaborated with artisans in India to craft limited edition gift boxes, tea accessories and teaware, all available at the click of a button on our website. Our intention is to serve up teas that soar with your imagination and for you to brew a perfectly splendid cup anytime of the day.
