Tea Research Association (TRA Tocklai) was honoured to welcome Mr. C. Murugan, IAS, Deputy Chairman, Tea Board of India, to the Tocklai Tea Research Institute, Jorhat, on 10th June 2026.

During his visit, Mr. Murugan toured all the departmental laboratories at Tocklai and interacted closely with our scientists, taking keen interest in the ongoing research across entomology, soils, climate & GIS, plant improvement, and biochemistry. His thoughtful observations and important suggestions were deeply encouraging for the scientific team.

He was accompanied by Mr. Suneel Singh Sikand, Chairman, TRA; Mr. Prabhat Bezboruah, former Chairman, TRA ; and Mr. Joydeep Phukan Secretary & Principal Officer, TRA, along with senior officials of the Tea Board of India.

Since 1911, Tocklai has stood at the forefront of tea science, and such engagement from the Tea Board reaffirms our shared commitment to a science-driven, sustainable future for the Indian tea industry.

🌱 World Environment Day at TRA Tocklai

Today, on World Environment Day, the Tea Research Association came together to plant saplings across our 40-acre campus at Tocklai — a small but lasting commitment to the soil, shade and biodiversity that sustain Assam's tea landscapes.

We were honoured to have Brigadier Yusuf Saify of the Indian Army join the plantation drive, alongside Dr Venkatesan Selvaraj, Director, TRA, and the scientists of Tocklai. Every sapling planted today is an investment in healthier soil, cleaner water and a more resilient future for tea.

Tea landscapes are living ecosystems. Protecting them now is how we protect the leaf — and the environment we all share.
