Switzerland is India’s favourite honeymoon. The dish it is famous for is not vegetarian.
Classic fondue is melted Gruyère, and Gruyère AOP is made with calf rennet by its own recipe. In Switzerland rennet goes by a new name, Lab, and it hides in raclette and the alpine cheeses too. Add rösti fried in meat fat, soups built on meat bouillon, and menus where one plain plate costs 25 to 40 francs, and the most beautiful trip of your life needs a plan.
The plan is in the slides: what to trust in the supermarkets (Migros and Coop mark vegetarian clearly, hot meals from 8 francs), the day-bag trick for Jungfraujoch and the mountain days, and the one German question that fixes the cheese problem.
Two things that did not fit on the slides:
Sundays are real. Most shops and supermarkets close. Buy your food Saturday evening, or find the railway station branch, those stay open.
Tap and fountain water is excellent and free. Restaurants charge for the bottle. The street does not. Carry one.
And yes, this is EP 10 before EP 09. Bali is the December episode. Honeymoon booking season earned Switzerland the queue jump.
