The whitefly ( RUGOSE SPIRALLING FLY) can be seen , followed by a typical spiral shaped paste pattern on the leaves affecting the plants. Later the affected leaves turn black affecting the yield of the trees.

Whiteflies affecting coconuts is the trending disease in south india at present. It started in kerela and pollachi nad has affected most areas in tamilnadu too ( including our belt of arasampatti ). The insect name is RUGOSE SPIRALING WHITEFLY. With a lifespan of 35-40 days, the insect tends to lay on under the leaves and leaves a spiralling network where the eggs are laid. The insects hatch and are inturn affected by fungus which makes the leaves turn black. This inturn affects photosynthesis of the plants.
Pictures will be posted later. As of now there is no insecticide recommended. All possible measures are taken by individual interests.
