What if half an acre could earn more than 7–8 acres?

This farmer traditionally grows paddy and wheat on 7–8 acres. Alongside that, he started colored capsicum farming in a half-acre polyhouse.

According to his experience, the income from that half-acre polyhouse is higher than what he earns from his paddy and wheat acreage.

He also points out another difference: open-field crops face direct exposure to strong winds, heavy rain and hailstorms, while protected cultivation offers a more controlled growing environment.

The polyhouse is also creating work for 4–5 people from his village.

But good production doesn't happen automatically.

Colored capsicum needs regular pruning and training. After about a month, side shoots are removed, two main branches are maintained, and the plants are supported with strings to keep them upright.

Small area. Different approach. More controlled cultivation.

From paperwork to harvest — this colored capsicum farmer shares the journey with AgriFirst.

The process started with Horticulture Department approval and documentation.
AgriFirst supported the file-passing process and then moved ahead with construction.

In just 40–45 days, the structure was ready.

Then came the plantation:

🌱 5,000 colored capsicum plants

🔴 2,500 red capsicum plants

🟡 2,500 yellow capsicum plants

Plantation began on August 6, and harvesting started from October 22 — around 80 days later.

The farm is now producing around 2 tonnes of colored capsicum every month, with an average rate of around ₹100/kg.
