At least 12 NEET-UG aspirants died by su***de between the cancellation of the initial exam on May 12 and the re-examination today, on June 21, 2026!!!
This disturbing fact has been haunting me for days each tme I hear about a new incident being reported from some part of the country as casual as any ordinary news.
So, I am penning this message as a father, a parent, and one who genuinely love being with children and celebrating their real childhood. My request is NOT to read this message as a mark of condolence but treat this as a call for collective, community action. We cannot let this happen year after year and push it as normal.
My heart goes out to all those lovely little lives who unfortunately gave-up and decided to take this extreme step. This should not have happened. This MUST NOT HAPPEN!
Imagine the happy feeling those parents, families would have gone through to receive each one of them into their arms. A mesmerising masterpiece of nature, fully complete and capable of growing and living a full life as yet another wonderful creature on this planet Earth. Imagine the moment that soul called father holding the little extension of himself for the first time in his hands.. Building a dream each day there after, stretching often beyond limitations so that the dream remains undisturbed and soon to be realised. Everything seemed so perfect and possible.
Suddenly there's a harsh realisation of the cruel education system we have forced ourselves into. Conveniently forgetting or negating the intrinsic ability, we try to "Fit" everyone into a commonly accepted norm by setting up false measures of evaluation. Ever tried fitting a round object into a square space and start blaming the object for being so round, without looking at all the other spaces where roundness is expected and celebrated??? That's our current education system.
The heavily commercialised ecosystem having no value for humanity pushes these tender lives through so much pain that I feel lack of words to explain. Humans have lived happily on this planet for over 300000 years, far too long since we started having exams like NEET that qualify our abilities to survive, enjoy and live here.
Add all the nearly-regularised malpractices that the system has brought in and the situation becomes extremely hazardous for anyone to survive let alone compete, go-through and crack it.
Can we stop here and start asking ourselves a simple question on it's real worth?? Mind you, it's a mad mad rush and we are often not permitted with time or conscious to be able to take any sort of break to slow down and access our action. Mass herding and societal expectations working at their best, all against our will and wishes.
Today, as the nation-full of “troubled" aspirants are lining up at the exam centres manned by armed soldiers from our elite defense forces as early as 11am for an exam that starts at 2pm!!!, I only get one feeling. This is turning out to be a mass massacre situation. I fail to imagine the mental condition of each one of those 22.79 lakh young children and the torture they are being subjected to. This is worse than any concentration camps ever setup by anyone!!!
I feel no reason to wish them good luck as each one of them is already a winner having survived to be able to reach the exam centre! Truly, they all deserve a sincere appreciation and a better life!!!
Nevertheless, I wish all those children a happy ending to the horrifying NEET experience and hope they sail through this unfortunate phase of life soon.
Lastly, food for thought to all of us parents. What rights do we have to subject our children to such a life? for what reason? what is the outcome?? what would happen if this doesn’t happen??? Time and Nature have demonstrated answers all around us if at all we are ready to observe, accept and act.
My prayers to all those 12 kids and many others who have lost their lives to this madness.
Nature Inspires India stands committed to do our bit to get the right education to enjoy our living on this blue-green planet just the way it was done before we became “Educated”.
Thanks!!
