NFDB North Eastern Regional Centre, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Majuli District, Assam, organised a three-day non-residential training programme (16â18 February 2026) on âQuality Fish Seed: A Key Engine for Growth of Rural Economy through Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture in Assamâ for 28 trainees.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Rajen Borah, HoD, Economics Department, Majuli College. Shri A. K. Borah, Senior Executive & OIC, NFDBâNERC, highlighted the importance of quality fish seed production and cost-effective feed management.
The training covered fish farm construction, hatchery management, scientific aquaculture practices and water quality management, along with hands-on sessions on broodstock management, hatchery operations, feed application and nursery pond management. During the valedictory session, Shri Bhadreswar Mili encouraged participants to adopt modern technologies and transform from traditional fish farmers into successful aquapreneurs.
The programme enhanced the knowledge and skills of trainees for sustainable fisheries development and increased fish production.
