If you've never tried Apa de Camarão, this is where to begin.

Made with a soft rice flour casing and filled with a savoury spiced prawn mixture, this traditional Goan delicacy is gently steamed until the flavours come together beautifully. It's one of those recipes that has quietly remained a part of Goan kitchens for generations, offering a taste of the region's rich culinary heritage in every bite.

Have you heard of 'August Disgost?'

1st August has a tradition attached to it, that some people call 'Augost Disgost'.

August has the 'notoriety' for being a month where people tend to fall ill due to sporadic rains and sunny days. Also most of the farmers would run dry on their finances and wait eagerly for the month to end so that they can harvest.

On this day families ensure they sweeten their mouth so that they begin the month on a sweet note and hope the rest of the month goes well.

Traditionally, jaggery and coconut sweets would be made.
Also since finances were low, freely available forest produce like pidduki, tarkido and moshga paalo would form part of the meal.

Mori Ambotik is all edge and no hesitation.

Tamarind drives the flavour forward, shark carries the depth, and the spice sits in between like it has always known its place. Nothing muted here, just a clear coastal profile that stays long after the bowl is empty.

A Konkan classic that never needed reinvention.

For many Goans, kokum isn't just an ingredient, it's a flavour that's woven into everyday life.

Whether stirred into a refreshing drink or added to curries and sol kadhi, its distinctive tang has been a staple of Goan kitchens for generations.

What's your favourite way to enjoy kokum?
