Another pop-up in our record, and we're left elated (but mostly tired). This time, we hosted a Mallu themed one at our quaint little apartment in Bandra East over the weekend. We bit the bullet and bent the 5 seats with 2 sessions rule after our last Goan version in May; This decision came with it's own set of experiences and really challenged us while paving way to grow individually and as a brand. With each passing moment, we understood a little more about different kinds of situations, people, as well as our skills beyond our degrees and the kitchen. This is nothing like a house party for your family or friends, but fun nonetheless! It takes Two to Tango for a successful event, as our attendees came in with their energy and varied personalities. One can be a great host/hostess, but it's honestly a two way street.
This 2.0 version was unique right from a single party booking all 10 seats whilst beating Visarjan traffic, to those who found comfort in attending despite being delayed dealing with bad news before our next session. This gave us the strength to accomodate them and host all over again.
It was also really nice seeing few familiar faces attend for the second time, and how some invested in researching the set menu or engage in trivia while chronicling their experiences. At the same time, we loved watching hungry folks dive straight into a food coma- Another sign of a job well done is no pictures and an empty plate (or banana leaf). The receptivity and bonding among most of our guests made things so much easier, and we're grateful 🙏
A special mention to the kind souls who understood our predicament on the day our Manda didi was suddenly unavailable. They still enjoyed despite us playing dual roles that noon.
On a lighter note, the pre-adolescent and OTT platform subscriber in us happily squealed after seeing India's pop girl-group member from the early 2000s and an acclaimed screenwriter/ director both join us consecutively. I guess we're not as underground as we thought, eh?
So to all 29 who graced us with their presence: Your satiated smiles, laughter and most importantly, humility helped us in ways unimaginable.
Thank you
